Job Description
Part Time. AM and PM Split Shift
Year Round work following Elmira and Horseheads School schedules including Summer School.

Policy. Key Responsibilities:
Knows the route and remains alert to monitor the welfare of passengers while in route
Communicates behavior problems and conditions of various stops with the driver
Assists in pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the bus
Assists students in the loading and unloading process
Cooperates and communicates with school personnel, students, and parents
Attends all safety and training meetings
Conducts emergency evacuation from the bus, including use of exiting by emergency door
Opens and closes service doors and moves up and down steps multiple times daily
Cleans the insides of the bus including sweeping, dusting and cleaning windows. Cleans outside
windows of the bus.
Assists driver when necessary to safely direct the vehicle backwards
Other specialized functions as required by contract.

Essential Functions:
The goal of the Self-Hired staff is to fulfill the role as outlined in the Individualized Habilitation plan. Those roles can include but are not limited to any of the following:

Community activities
Community integration
Job coaching
Self-Hires are expected to:
Complete tasks in a responsible, prompt and courteous manner.
Maintain confidentiality and not discuss issues with anyone else.
Report to work on time. Provide adequate notice if they are unable to work a scheduled shift.
Respect the program participant's home, possessions, and lifestyle choices.
Maintain their case notes with the use of MediSked.
Request time off from the program participant 2 weeks before the requested dates.
In the case of an illness or emergency, call your program participant as soon as possible, but no later than one hour before work.
Experience and Qualifications:
Must be at least 18 years of age.
Must have a Social Security number.
Be able to perform the tasks that need to be completed.
