Responsibilities
1. Patient Care Services:
Provides care to patients under the direction of a Registered Professional Nurse and/or Licensed Physician according to Memorial Medical Center policies, procedures and standards of care:
Obtaining vital signs manually and with equipment
Performing an EKG
Performing phlebotomy on patients age 5 and above.
Perform sterile insertion of foley catheter as per physician order
Collecting stool, urine and other samples from patients
Fitting patients for crutches and orthopedic splinting supplies
Assisting providers with sterile procedures-before, during and after
Transporting patients in the department and to other departments
Dressing simple wounds with clean technique
Communicating with patients and their families
Performing an Initial Screening on low acuity patients
Assisting patients during the discharge process
Assists behaviorial health patients using de-escalation techniques
Assists in the admission of patients, (i.e. placing patients in room, preparation of patient for examination, obtaining initial and/or repeat vital signs, and communicates any unusual circumstances to the Registered Professional Nurse and/or Licensed Physician).
Maintains operating knowledge of both the Trauma and ACLS protocols
Assists in maintaining equipment, corrects equipment malfunctions and report malfunctions for repair.
Assists in providers in maintaining a sterile field during procedures.
Assists provider/nurse with rapid infuser setup, arterial line setup, chest tube placement, EVD placement
Maintains supplies of acute care carts (trauma, neuro, central line)
Maintains appropriate documentation skills.
Performs clerical functions (i.e. receives, opens and distributes mail; answers, places and routes telephone calls and pages utilizing appropriate communication skills and procedures; maintains appropriate level of clerical supplies; manages Radiology communication slips appropriately; processes completed ED patient record accurately, timely, and in appropriate manner; transmits records to attending physicians in accordance with Department policy and procedures).
Communicates with Pre-Hospital personnel in accordance with Department policy and procedures utilizing appropriate communications equipment and logs.
Understands and functions appropriately for all Medical Center and Department "Conditions".
Provides preceptor functions as directed by Manager and/or Supervisor.
Maintains familiarization with location and operation of equipment and procedure manuals for Department.
Practices appropriately for the safety of patients, (i.e., uses side rails appropriately, disposes of infectious waste appropriately, addresses spill appropriately and initiates incident reports as appropriate).
Demonstrates professionalism (i.e., attends or reviews 75% of staff meetings minutes, documenting review with signature and date; actively pursues opportunity to increase knowledge within area of responsibility; maintain patient confidentiality; complies with professional appearance policy; presents at work on time and maintains satisfactory attendance in accordance with department Ill/Absent policy).

The Paramedic will utilize their knowledge and proficiency of evidenced-based medical practice and Intl.SOS protocols to manage unexpected and emergent situations and treat a variety of injuries and illnesses in a prompt and professional manner. Provide paramedicine pre-hospital support to patients within the site, outside the site, and during transfer to local higher levels of care.
Ambulance operations, EMS response and the subsequent support of the medical team within the clinic are the primary responsibilities
Assist medical providers with medical procedures and treatments as allowed within licensed scope of work.
Assessment and documentation of the patient's vital signs, chief complaint, medical history, prescribed medications.
Report all changes in patient's conditions to the medical provider.
Proactively and independently administer basic paramedic level care within the standing orders and SOPs without exceeding your licensed scope of care.,
Assist patients with basic care and activities of daily living, as needed.

How you will contribute
You will determine donor eligibility; to include, proper management of informed consent, AIDS education and confidential self-exclusion, medical history interview and acceptance requirements, physical examination, blood testing, and reviewing Serological Protein Electrophoresis (SPE).
You will evaluate donor reaction(s), which occurs at the facility as outlined in the SOPs. Follow applicable SOPs for medical emergencies including the development of Center Physician's standing orders and donor transport to emergency care facilities.
You will refer to the Center Physician or Medical Affairs (as applicable) when in need of providing unacceptable findings to donors, or guidance concerning medical or technical issues, including donor safety and eligibility.
You will support the Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu vaccination programs for employees as applicable.
You will manage employee incidents and determine whether further evaluation is required by occupational health/ER. Refer to EHS guidance regarding employee incidents.
You can be a Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by EHS and support investigations associated with pandemic threats within the local community as indicated by EHS or Medical Affairs.

Participates in public education, public relations, public health safety programs, emergency medical service training, fire training, fire prevention activities, fire suppression, rescue, extrication, hazardous material situations, demonstrations, instructing, and any other activity that would benefit the company, its contracting communities, or the general public.
Respond to fire alarms with assigned company; lay and connect hose; maintain pumping apparatus; hold nozzles and direct water streams; raise and climb ladders; ventilate burning structures; enter buildings to evacuate occupants.
Operate all types of fire operation and rescue equipment including portable fire extinguishers, pike poles, hand lines, smoke ejectors, salvage covers, forcible entry tools, aerial ladder equipment and emergency medical equipment.
Preserve evidence at fire scenes.
Perform search and rescue of individuals in hazardous environments including collapsed buildings, auto accidents, hazardous material spills and confined spaces.
Attend special instruction in firefighting emergency medical techniques; perform drills with other engine company staff; become familiar with city layout, established response routes and hydrant system; prepare and maintain a variety of firefighting preplan drawings and schematics.
Firefighter/Paramedic employees assist in the training of fire department personnel in emergency medical techniques and medical field activities; maintain inventory of drugs and controlled substances.

4 years or equivalent (8000 hours) of experience as a licensed AEMT, Intermediate, Paramedic, or Advanced Practice Provider in pre-hospital emergency care environment.
Minimum of 2 years previous EMS teaching experience.
American Heart Association BCLS Instructor - Current or able to obtain within 6 months of hire
American Heart Association ACLS Provider - Current

American Heart Association PALS Provider - Current or able to obtain within 6 months of hire
EMS Instructor I license in the State in which the TM practices - Current or able to obtain within 12 months of hire

High level of attention to detail.
Ability to adjust schedule to manage multiple concurrent activities, meet the changing duties, volume of work, and needs of the EMS program.
Proficient in MS software applications including Word, Excel, Power Point, Teams, database use, internet, and use of electronic mail.
Effectively interacts and communicates on a professional level using excellent communication (written and verbal), listening and interpersonal skills.
Demonstrates human relation skills with the ability to develop rapport and maintain positive, professional relationships with a variety of team members, EMS providers and physicians.
Self-motivated and requires little to no supervision with the ability to work collaboratively as a team member.
Excellent time management, organizational and problem-solving skills, and prioritization of tasks in an environment with frequent interruptions.
Demonstrates coordination, collaboration, delegation and team building skills.
Experience with or willingness to learn the supportive technologies including online learning management system, multi-media based and emerging technologies.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
Must be able to sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, reach above shoulders, and twist frequently during work shift. Must be able to:
Lift up to 50 lbs from floor to waist. Lift up to 20 lbs over the head.
Carry up to 40 lbs a reasonable distance.
