Instructional Duties and Responsibilities (includes but are not limited to): * Teach clinical tasks inclusive of taking vital signs, collecting patient medical history, and preparing patients for examinations; * Instruct students in providing adequate assistance to healthcare professionals as it pertains to healthcare procedures and treatments; * Provide instruction in presenting patient education as it pertains to medical conditions, treatment plans, and preventive care; * Provide instruction in performing basic laboratory tests and handling specimens; * Provide instruction in compliance with infection control protocols in maintaining a clean and organized health care setting; * Utilize classroom and lab instruction, student assessment mechanisms, and classroom management techniques to provide an engaged classroom experience to students; * Ensure that each student has been presented with the material to successfully meet the learning objectives of each course within a student's program of study; * Ensure that instructional materials and equipment are ready for student use, sufficient in quantity, are properly maintained, and are in working order prior to class time; and * Manage and facilitate clinical instruction through local healthcare providers.

The CNA/nurse tech is expected to function within the scope of practice and approved policies, procedures, and regulations for the department and organization. The CNA/tech needs the ability to cope with frequent unpleasant sights/smells as well as deal with difficult patient(s)/family. The CNA/Tech is responsible to assist the Charge nurse, RN or LPN with orientation, preceptorship for Nurse Techs or certified nurse assistants, students, or unit secretaries assigned to the unit.     Document clinic patient care given, review and maintain patient chart per policy, and assist with accurate and timely entry of patient data. Proper use of BP cuff, Stethscope, EKG Machine, electronic thermometer , eye chart/ color blindness, otoscope/ophthalmoscope, weight scales,etc. Follows policy and procedure for home medication manangement and reconciliation. Obtains proper signature and documentation from patient for the release of medical information. Understands lab quality control policies, proficiency testing and documentation. Under general supervision of the Clinic Administrator and Office Manager, Physician, NP, RN or LPN, performs patient care and collects vital patient information. Workload will be determined by clinic's appointment schedule, clinic staffing levels and the needs and priorities of the outpatient clinics. Must be willing to be reassigned within clinic or willing to float to another clinic. Assignment to another clinic is possible and is established by daily review of overall outpatient clinics appointment schedules and staffing needs. The Medical Assistant will be assigned up to 40 hours per week according to the needs of the clinic and staff. Some weekend work may be required. The Medical Assistant is expected to function within the scope of approved policies, procedures, and regulations for the clinic and organization. Will be responsible to document clinic patient care given, review and maintain patient chart per policy, and assist with accurate and timely entry of patient data, orders, and charges into computer system. Must be able to work and relate in a professional, non-defensive manner with peers, physicians, administration, patients, and visitors.
