PCTs keep the unit supplied, clean, and organized. Additionally, the PCT may function in an office assistant role and answer the telephone, answer questions within their capabilities the patient or their support individuals may have, and perform data entry and data collection. The PCT in the discharge unit is for assisting discharged patients, coordinating discharge logistics and assisting patients in utilizing resources and accessing health related services. The PCT in the Labor Delivery and Post Partum Breastfeeding Center does not provide direct patient care. The PCT follows all policies and procedures of Northern Arizona Healthcare. They perform or assist with procedures that fall within the scope of practice of a PCT, and work closely with all members of the interdisciplinary team. The PCT may be caring for infants, children, adolescents, adults and geriatrics populations.
