This recruitment is for multiple positions at all DPH facilities, including Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital and Trauma Center (ZSFG), Laguna Honda Hospital and Rehabilitation Center (LHH), Community Primary Care and Mental Health Clinics, as well as San Francisco County Jails. Some positions may require employees to work directly with individuals within locked jails and psychiatric facilities, the homeless population, and/or individuals who have or are carriers of infectious/communicable diseases.
NOTE: Part-time, evenings, nights, weekends, rotating, and/or holiday shifts may be required.
Role description
Under the direction of a licensed physician, registered nurse, or clinical supervisor, the Psychiatric Technician performs professional therapeutic procedures in the care and treatment of severely and persistently mentally ill and emotionally disturbed patients.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:
* Gives a basic level of general and psychiatric nursing care to mentally ill patients; works with an interdisciplinary treatment team to provide an overall treatment program for the patient;
* Under supervision, may perform nursing procedures such as administering medications and treatments, including oral medications, injections, and enemas, taking and charting vital signs;
* Observes patients' condition and behavior; reports significant changes to supervisor or physician and documents care and/or treatments in nursing progress notes on patients; prepares patients and cares for them during treatment; gives first aid as needed;
* Helps to create a safe and therapeutic environment for patients and recognizes early symptoms/signs of escalation and at risk behavior; uses appropriate interventions including crisis intervention, verbal de-escalation, and alerting other team members;
* Implements therapeutic activities and documents patient participation; assists rehabilitation therapists in occupational and recreational therapies for patients;
* Motivates patients to develop independence in performing activities of daily living; assists patients with feeding, clothing, toileting, activities of daily living; ensure patients follow safe practices that protect patients and others from personal injury;
* Receives visitors and encourages their interest in the patients' wellbeing and treatment plan; escorts patients on the facility premises and to and from the community; orders supplies as needed; keeps records; participates in orientation and in-service training programs;
* Participates in the discharge process
The 2305 Psychiatric Technician performs other related duties as required.
Nature of Positions: Positions may require considerable physical effort in controlling or restraining violent clients, with continuous exposure to conditions which may result in accidents or injuries or other uncomfortable situations.
How to qualify
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
LICENSE: Possession of a valid Psychiatric Technicians license issued by the California Board of Vocational Nursing and Psychiatric Technicians.

Under the general supervision of the Account Manager, the Plant Health Technician acts as the primary source, assessing and health of the landscape. Treating with herbicides, insecticides, fungicides, and plant food as necessary at our job sites.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Diagnose insect, disease, and cultural/environmental conditions and recommend treatment options.
Apply various types of treatments to mitigate and eliminate weeds, plant disease, and destructive insects and rodents in the landscape.
Ensure proper filling/mixing procedures and material dilution are followed.
Operate and maintain various types of equipment, including but not limited to power and hand sprayers, granule application equipment, and rodent traps
Drive a pickup truck with a tow-behind equipment trailer, often independently
Maintain accurate and timely records
Complete continuing education requirements needed to maintain an active Qualified Applicators License.
Uphold safety best practices and provide immediate reporting of unsafe working conditions and/or practices to the Supervisor
Maintain open and professional communication with supervisors and clients to provide feedback on plant health care issues.
Other duties as assigned, including helping with maintenance, other projects when necessary.
COMPETENCIES
Willingness and ability to obtain a State of California, Qualified Applicators License (category B and C) within one year of hire, if not already licensed. Desired valid applicator's license.
This position requires periodic travel to government or secure facilities where REAL ID-compliant identification is necessary for entry and candidates must be able to present acceptable identification that meets these site access requirements.
The ability to be bonded and/or pass a background check for work on federal sites.
Proof of a valid driver license(Real ID) and an acceptable Motor Vehicle report.

**This recruitment is for multiple positions at all DPH facilities, including Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital and Trauma Center (ZSFG), Laguna Honda Hospital and Rehabilitation Center (LHH), Community Primary Care and Mental Health Clinics, as well as San Francisco County Jails. Some positions may require employees to work directly with individuals within locked jails and psychiatric facilities, the homeless population, and/or individuals who have or are carriers of infectious/communicable diseases.

Job Description
Under the direction of a licensed physician, registered nurse, or clinical supervisor, the Psychiatric Technician performs professional therapeutic procedures in the care and treatment of severely and persistently mentally ill and emotionally disturbed patients.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:
Gives a basic level of general and psychiatric nursing care to mentally ill patients; works with an interdisciplinary treatment team to provide an overall treatment program for the patient;
Under supervision, may perform nursing procedures such as administering medications and treatments, including oral medications, injections, and enemas, taking and charting vital signs;
Observes patients' condition and behavior; reports significant changes to supervisor or physician and documents care and/or treatments in nursing progress notes on patients; prepares patients and cares for them during treatment; gives first aid as needed;
Helps to create a safe and therapeutic environment for patients and recognizes early symptoms/signs of escalation and at risk behavior; uses appropriate interventions including crisis intervention, verbal de-escalation, and alerting other team members;
Implements therapeutic activities and documents patient participation; assists rehabilitation therapists in occupational and recreational therapies for patients;
Motivates patients to develop independence in performing activities of daily living; assists patients with feeding, clothing, toileting, activities of daily living; ensure patients follow safe practices that protect patients and others from personal injury;
Receives visitors and encourages their interest in the patients' wellbeing and treatment plan; escorts patients on the facility premises and to and from the community; orders supplies as needed; keeps records; participates in orientation and in-service training programs;
Participates in the discharge process
The 2305 Psychiatric Technician performs other related duties as required.
Nature of Positions: Positions may require considerable physical effort in controlling or restraining violent clients, with continuous exposure to conditions which may result in accidents or injuries or other uncomfortable situations.
Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
LICENSE: Possession of a valid Psychiatric Technicians license issued by the California Board of Vocational Nursing and Psychiatric Technicians.

Requirement/Provision Possession of a valid Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Certificate issued by the American Heart Association is required as a provision to employment for all positions.
