The Telemetry Nurse carries out patient assignments and assumes primary care responsibilities that promote health, prevent illness, restore health, and ease suffering for patients released from intensive care, but still require close monitoring for signs of physical distress or danger. Telemetry nurses utilize sophisticated medical equipment to monitor the vital signs of patients in their unit. Nurses work with physicians to develop treatment plans for patients in the telemetry unit. The blood pressure, heart rate, blood oxygen level and cardiac electrical activity of patients in a telemetry unit is constantly monitored by specialized equipments, and telemetry nurses keep track of this information and take quick action to treat patients who develop problems. Telemetry nurses mainly care for patients recovering from heart conditions or cardiac surgery.

Works with an interdisciplinary team to assure support of the patients' physical, spiritual and emotional needs, as well as the needs of the families. * Position Responsibilities * Unit Specific Position Responsibilities * In conjunction with the Interdisciplinary Care Team (IDT) uses assessment information to develop and implement the interdisciplinary plan of care, focusing on the patient's goals, identified problems, and palliation of symptoms. * Reevaluates the patient's condition and ongoing needs, and reports patient's condition to appropriate members of the IDT. * Conducts referral and admission visits as assigned. * Provides bereavement education and support, and encourages use of bereavement services. * Assists with chart audits and data collection when requested. * Participates in Hospice and MGMC committees and work groups. * Participates in Public Health activities as assigned. * Assists with MGMC's Transitional Care program. * Qualifications, Knowledge & Experience * Required Qualifications (Including any licensure, certification, education): * Licensed as a Registered Nurse and authorized by the State of Iowa to practice nursing or has active multistate license approved by the Nurse Licensure Compact. * Achievement of Baccalaureate degree in nursing within 6 years of hire if hired after January 1, 2014. * Basic Life Support (BLS) training, or within 90 days of hire and must maintain throughout employment. * Mandatory Reporter training or within 90 days of hire and must maintain throughout employment. * Two years experience in medical surgical nursing. * Possession of a current valid driver's license and must maintain eligibility for coverage under Mary Greeley Medical Center's insurance policy. * Organizational Requirements: * Maintain stroke education per regulatory requirements. * Preferred Qualifications: * Baccalaureate degree in nursing. * Professional certification in nursing specialty. * Required Knowledge, Skills & Experience: * Proficient in communication skills. * Ability to pursue and foster a sense of team and partnership across all disciplines. * Ability to communicate effectively, in English, with diverse population groups. * Ability to be self-directed, flexible, and able to adapt to change. * Ability to communicate effectively in a professional and tactful manner with physicians, staff, patients and/or their representatives. * Ability to read and understand chart documentation. * Ability to demonstrate basic computer skills. * Ability to read, write and understand the English language. * Knowledge of theory, techniques, and practices of professional nursing in caring for neonatal through geriatric clients; knowledge of preparation and administration of medicines; knowledge of treatments and medical procedures; knowledge of counseling and teaching techniques; knowledge of the preparation and operation of appropriate medical equipment; ability to make independent decisions. * Preferred Knowledge, Skills & Experience: * Hospice Experience

FULLTIME SCHEDULE: 0730-1600 M/W/TH/F OPEN TO RN/LPN/CMA This position is primarily responsible for working as a clinic RN, maintaining clinic flow for patients and providers. This position will serve as nursing coverage in the clinic assisting clinic healthcare providers with patient examinations, phone calls, treatments and procedures as they may be performed within a clinic setting under the direction of the provider; within the scope of the professional license. This position maintains responsibility for patient medical record and documentation, collection and preparation of specimens, and administration of medications as ordered by the provider. Minimum knowledge, skills, and abilities: * Graduate of an accredited RN program or LPN/CMA. * Current license in the state of Iowa. * 3 years of clinical experience in acute or ambulatory care setting preferred. * Acute care and/or Home Health nursing for cardiac or diabetic patients - or prior phone triage, ER triage, MD office triage, combined Adult/Pediatric experience preferred. * Superior nursing process skills and patient service drive. * Current American Heart Association (AHA) Heart Code BLS required.
