Job Summary
PetSmart's Pet Associate (Retail Sales Associate) is responsible for engaging with pet parents and their pets while providing positive experiences and upholding the company's vision, mission, values, and strategy. This role also shares responsibility of store cleanliness and maintenance, and pet safety standards as well as the direct care of pets within our store.
Essential Responsibilities
Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following and may vary depending on store characteristics and needs:
* Responsible for the pet parent experience and outcomes conducted in person, over the phone, at the sales register and online.
* Greets pet parents and answers their questions throughout the store.
* Prepares online orders for pick-up in store and ensures a smooth, positive, pick-up experience.
* Responsible for the pet healthcare of store owned pets, which includes feeding, watering and cleaning all pet habitats (bird, reptile, small animal, cricket, and fish aquariums).
* Maintains total store cleanliness standards.
* Supports the store with weekly price changes and monthly promotional pricing.
* Stages and sorts new product to match sales floor planners.
* Faces, fills, and recovers products to meet sales floor standards.
* Recommends, informs, and sells merchandise, services and live pets.
* Administers store owned pet medications as directed by veterinarian
* Promotes special events such as adoption weekends, Treats enrollment, charity events, etc.
* Ensures a safe environment for our associates, pets, and pet parents.
* Responsible for taking immediate action when a sick/injured pet is identified in the store; transport to the vet as needed.
* Assists and works in various areas throughout the store (including services) as required. Other duties may be assigned.

Essential physical demands and work environment

Perform patient restraint, obtain and process laboratory samples, handle and dispense medications at the direction of the veterinarian and help maintain the electronic medical record.
Schedule appointments, provide client education, relay test results to doctor and clients, and maintain and update client/patient records.
Help prepare patients for surgical and dental procedures and assist doctor and/or veterinary technician in anesthetizing patients. Under supervision of the veterinarian and/or veterinary technician, assistants will maintain patients safely under anesthesia while monitoring vital parameters, help monitor patients during recovery and prepare them for hospital discharge or transfer to an overnight care facility.
Under supervision of the veterinarian and/or veterinary technician, perform in-hospital treatments for sick patients including giving injectable and oral medications as well as intravenous fluid therapy; keep patients clean, watered, and fed (when indicated and directed by doctor), safely walk canine patients when necessary for elimination.
Under direction of the HOM/HLOD, assist in the training of new staff members and general dissemination of knowledge as required.
Keep hospital environment neat and clean; perform regular cleaning of environment based on necessity as well as based on a pre-determined maintenance schedule.

Nature of Supervision
In all activities related to the care of individual patients, the incumbent will take direct supervision from the veterinarians as well as the Veterinary Technician. Nature of Supervision:
In all activities related to the care of individual patients, the Veterinarian will take direct supervision from the Hospital Medical Leader or Area Medical Director. The Veterinarian has discretion related to decisions regarding patient care, however, it is imperative that the Veterinarian uphold the standards set forth in the Petco Veterinary SOPs. The Veterinarian should expect to receive direction and guidance based on electronic medical record review from the Hospital Medical Leader or Area Medical Director regarding patient decisions and should accept such feedback as a means to elevate patient care in the hospital.
All hospital veterinarians should work together in a collegial fashion and are expected to behave in a professional and personable manner.
Planning and Problem Solving:
Problem solving is at the heart of veterinary medicine, and it is expected that any successful candidate will possess excellent problem-solving skills that allow expeditious diagnosis of patient problems.

This position will impact the organization by contributing to the growth of a productive practice while focusing on a high-quality standard of care. From an overall hospital organizational standpoint, this position is critical to ensuring that we have a cohesive, well-trained, and motivated team. Supervisory Responsibility:
This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities, however, as stated above the Veterinarian is a de facto leader in the hospital.
Education/Experience
Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree or equivalent from an AVMA-accredited veterinary school.
Active licensure as a veterinarian without contingencies in the state in which the hospital is located or ability to obtain by start date.
Current DEA license.
Current Controlled Substance License, if applicable, in state in which the hospital is located or ability to obtain by start date.
USDA Category I (minimum) Accreditation or completion within two months of hire date.
Must be comfortable performing anesthesia and routine surgeries including but not limited to: canine and feline spays, neuters, mass removals, and dentals.
Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Must be compassionate and sympathetic, and be able to maintain a professional attitude and demeanor during emotional and stressful situations.
Must have telephone and computer skills.
Must be a team player willing to learn new techniques and treatments, offer creative ideas, and accept change.
Work Environment:
The majority of job duties are conducted in the Vetco Total Care veterinary full-service hospital. Position requires bending, kneeling, lifting (up to 30 pounds, as necessary), and standing for long periods of time. A large amount of this partner's time will be spent in direct contact with clients and their pets.

Essential Job Functions
The essential duties and responsibilities that are required of this position. This section includes the primary accountabilities or duties of the role. The Hospital Operations Manager must be able to perform all the following duties and responsibilities with or without reasonable accommodation:
Lead hospital paraprofessionals to drive operational excellence, efficiency, high standard patient care and excellent client experience.
Create productive, collaborative and seamless relationships with all veterinarians in the hospital to drive a positive culture and cohesive team environment.
Point person for all day-to-day functions of the practice including, but not limited to - veterinarian and support partners scheduling, equipment function and maintenance, inventory control and ordering, proper invoicing, patient scheduling, team training, radiological safety program and handling elevated client concerns.
Oversee hiring, training, reviewing, counseling and separation of paraprofessional partners, in partnership with AOM (Area Operations Manager) and Human Resources Business Partner.
Assume scheduling responsibilities for all paraprofessional partners, with the expectation to schedule a minimum of two weeks out. Maintain all hospital partner points in accordance with Petco's punctuality and attendance policy.
Create and maintain doctor's schedule with support from Area or Regional Medical Director as needed.
Review P&L monthly reporting, and partner with Area Operations Manager to increase revenue growth and exceed financial targets set by Finance team.
Escalate partner or client issues to Area Operations Manager, Area Medical Director and/or HRBP as required.
Interface and collaborate with Petco store team to drive a seamless complete care customer experience.
Schedule appointments, provide client education, relay test results to doctor and clients, maintain and update hospital inventory, maintain client/patient records within the practice management system and manage accounts receivable.
Keep hospital environment neat and clean; maintain OSHA standards, perform and maintain regular cleaning of environment based on necessity as well as based on a pre-determined maintenance schedule
Uphold and enforce all policies of Petco and Vetco Total Care.
Other Duties and Responsibilities:
Patient care always comes first.
Any issues with patient clients or hospital partners are dealt with and resolved as they occur, or as soon as is possible.

Job Summary
PetSmart's PetsHotel Experience Lead (Hotel Supervisor) provides exceptional service to pet parents and the pets in our care while upholding the company's vision, mission, values, and strategy. This role provides a welcoming and safe environment to pets, ensuring proper healthcare and facility cleanliness. Alongside the PetsHotel Experience Leader, they are responsible for maintenance and oversight of the PetsHotel, opening and/or closing the store, overseeing associates, and maintaining a safe and organized environment.
Essential Responsibilities
Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following and may vary depending on store characteristics and needs:
People Leadership:
* Facilitates the associate experience and supports associate development. This includes but is not limited to training, onboarding, mentoring, and coaching for growth. as well as providing feedback into associate performance reviews, disciplinary action and promotions.
* Delegate and validate completion of daily tasks.
* Leads and directs associates when acting as the leader on duty.
* Address and administer associate complaints and grievances.
* Recognizes and celebrates associates driving overall associate engagement.
Hotel Operations and Overall Store Experience:
* Responsible for the pet parent experience and outcomes conducted over the telephone, in person or online, and responding to pet parent concerns.
* Responsible for pet healthcare and facility cleanliness within the hotel (medication, feeding, watering, etc.)
* Responsible for administering pet parent or vet provided medication for pets.
* Ensures that all pets within the hotel are taken to and from the Vet and responsible for reporting when a sick/injured pet is identified within the store.
* Accurately completes and performs check-in and check-out process for all guests and obtains the appropriate health and medical information for guests (ensures paperwork is completed accurately).
* Ensures reservations for pet boarding and doggie day camp are within established policies and procedures, declining reservations when necessary.
* Responsible for the monthly hotel safety reporting/standards.
* Shared responsibility to complete the daily morning safety observation walk.
* Shared responsibility for store opening and closing procedures to ensure brand promise is upheld.
* Maintains total store cleanliness standards.
* Coordinates hotel events and other promotional strategies.
* Sells merchandise and services
* Maintains store standards and leads a culture of empowerment by ensuring compliance with our policies and procedures (P&Ps) and code of ethics.
* Ensures a safe environment for our associates, pets, and pet parents.
* Responsible for safety incident support and follow up.
* Ensures routine maintenance is performed on all equipment in the PetsHotel. This includes identifying potential system issues and partnering with facilities to resolve issues.
* Assists and works in other departments as required. Other duties may be assigned.
* Follows all Company Policies and Procedures
Qualifications
* 2+ years of retail supervisory experience in a customer-focused environment.
* Leadership experience preferred.
* Full-time availability required, flexibility in schedule, able to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
* Proficiency in computer applications.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills.
* Ability to react under pressure and maintain composure.
* Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Supervisory responsibility
* No direct reports, however, are expected to guide and support the development of other associates.
* Provides feedback on associate performance to direct supervisor.
* Acts as the Leader when other Leaders are not in the store. This includes supervising associates, assigning tasks and addressing any concerns.
Essential physical demands and work environment
* Associate required to stand, walk, climb a ladder, and use hands to handle, feel, hold, write, etc. The associate frequently is required to reach with hands and arms: stoop, kneel, crouch, talk and hear.
