We are seeking a WA State credentialed MA-Phlebotomist for our Columbia Tech Center location in east Clark County! The phlebotomist is a professional representative of the laboratory whose primary function is to provide excellent customer service and venipuncture collection. This position will work collaboratively with all healthcare team members toward positive outcomes for the patient and the organization, perform phlebotomy services, collection and handling of specimens, understanding of department procedures and computerized EMR and Lab Information Systems. Available Schedule: Monday through Friday 8:45am to 5:45pm, rotating Saturday shift 7:30am to Noon. Hiring Range: Typically $21.71/hr to $26.75/hr, commensurate with experience. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/TRAINING High School diploma or equivalent. Current Washington State Medical Assistant-Phlebotomist credential required or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire. Current American Heart Association Health Care Provider BLS CPR certification required. Minimum of one year of experience using blood collection techniques in a clinical lab setting is preferred. Inpatient Specimen Collection And Processing Collects SCHEDULED, ROUTINE, COLLECT NOW, AND TIMED DRAW specimens from inpatients using approved specimen collection methods. This includes following the policies and procedures as found in the Phlebotomy Procedure Manual on the MCN Policy site. Performs venipuncture using approved procedures on adult and pediatric patients on inpatient units. Assists coworkers as needed. Correctly identifies patients using two patient identifiers, scans barcoded inpatient ID Band, and labels tubes by the bedside. Greets patients and interacts in a professional, courteous manner. Collects on-demand and timed specimens from inpatients as directed. Collects scheduled draws at due time or earlier. Reviews Rover for Taken draws and triages urgent draws. Documents collections, cancellations, notes, and moved draws. Correctly executes downtime procedure for equipment and Epic failure. Ensures timely transportation to lab of all collected specimens. Other duties as Assigned Required Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent and completion of phlebotomy training program including significant time spent in a clinical rotation or 3 months of recent (within the last 12 months) phlebotomy experience in a clinical laboratory. Certification as ASCP (PBT), NHA (CPT), RPT (AMT) or equivalent required, or must be completed in the first year of employment. OR One year of college level psychology, communications, or science course work plus 1 year of dedicated phlebotomy experience/training in a clinical laboratory. Certification as ASCP (PBT), NHA (CPT), RPT (AMT) or equivalent required, or must be completed in the first year of employment. Job Related Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (Competencies): Strong customer service skills. Support the laboratory function of providing diagnostic information for use in patient care by ensuring proper collection and processing of laboratory specimens. ROLE: The Mobile Phlebotomist, under the general supervision of the Phlebotomy Supervisor, works to provide clinical pre-analytical laboratory services to our clients/patients in a mobile setting. They are responsible for completing their assigned routes in a safe and timely manner. They must follow all policies and procedures. TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES: * Drives vehicle to client facilities, typically nursing homes, as directed by company dispatcher. * Unloads phlebotomy tray and takes to patient's bedside to collect samples ordered by physician. * Accurately identifies patient before collecting specimen(s). * Accurately collects, labels, processes, and delivers specimens obtained from patients. * Reloads equipment and all necessary specimens to vehicle for prompt delivery. * Regularly communicates with dispatcher to report status and location. * Strict adherence to Universal Precautions in controlling blood-borne pathogens and infectious disease exposures. * Maintain required certifications, health requirements, and operational requirements. * Keeps work area clean. * Follow all required safety precautions ALL the time. * Reports any unsafe conditions in the workplace. * Reports all complaints and problems encountered. * Monitors supplies inventory. * Reports low stock or out-of-stock situations. * Identifies and segregates any expired supplies * Reports to work promptly, properly groomed and wears the proper identification at all times when visiting a facility. * Accurately maintains time records of hours worked and deliver to company as directed. The Clark County Office of the Medical Examiner (CCMEO) investigates deaths to determine jurisdiction and establish cause and manner of death for persons dying of unnatural circumstances in Clark County. CCMEO is accredited by the National Association of Medical Examiners (NAME) since 2005, and currently operates under the administrative oversight of the public health department. In addition to serving Clark County residents, the office contracts with Klickitat and Skamania counties to provide forensic autopsy services. The CCMEO team is composed of skilled, multi-disciplinary staff with a Chief Medical Examiner, Associate Medical Examiner, 3 Autopsy technicians, 1 Lead Death Investigator, 5 death investigators, contract forensic pathologists, operations leadership, and staff. Medical Examiner services are provided 24 hours a day, seven days a week and include death scene investigation, removal, locating and notifying next of kin, performing autopsies, interpreting toxicology results, identification of decedents, consulting with partners to determine opinions for archeologically significant remains and assisting the Washington State Archeologist to coordinate repatriation and reinternment, determination of nonhuman remains, necropsies, and providing consultative services to law enforcement agencies and to the Clark County Prosecuting Attorney's Office. The Office is responsible for signing death certificates for jurisdictional deaths, reviewing disposition authorizations, maintaining appropriate records, evidence collection, chain of custody, and safeguarding the personal property found with decedents. The Office also maintains responsibility for the disposition of the remains of unclaimed indigent persons who have died in Clark County. Must be licensed as a Medical Doctor or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine in the state of Washington. Must maintain Board Certification from the American Board of Pathology as a condition of employment. Must be a resident of Oregon or Washington and maintain a valid driver license in state of residency. Preferred candidates possess five or more years of experience practicing as a Board-Certified Forensic Pathologist. Examples of Duties * Performs 150 - 200 postmortem examinations per year. * Retains samples, specimens, and tissues necessary for analysis, examination, and documentation. * Prepares detailed technical examination reports using appropriate reporting form and convention; ensures the confidentiality of all reports and records of autopsies or postmortem examinations. * Issues preliminary reports in writing, of the cause of death where such determination is not dependent upon further investigation. * Keeps and maintains appropriate records, reports, and other documentation regarding investigations as well as physical evidence transferred from other investigative agencies. * Provides supervision for Associate Medical Examiner and Autopsy Technician staff.
