Must be able to work Monday through Friday 9am to 5pm. Flexibility with hours is needed for clients who may start earlier or stay later than the posted hours. Must be comfortable driving to client sites in the Fenton, Saline and Howell, MI area. Base hourly rate includes float differential compensation. The Client Office Phlebotomist-Float reflects the mission, vision, and values of NM, adheres to the organization's Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines and all other regulatory and accreditation standards. Responsibilities: * Performs phlebotomy and other lab specimen collections per age related standards. * Provides appropriate post-phlebotomy patient care. * Identifies need for patient medical assistance and call code as appropriate. * Reviews/Records refrigerator temperature(s) and QC/QA records. Areas of concern are recorded through the Corrective Action Log and reported to maintenance for repair. Findings are reported to supervisor or manager. * Use manual requisitions and labels specimens appropriately. * Label and process specimens according to establishes protocols and policies. * Must effectively procure blood specimens from infant, adult, geriatric, and wheelchair bound patients. * Must demonstrate competency for age related responsibilities. * Understands the operation and maintenance of equipment pertinent to the job. * Follows up with all outstanding orders on manifest log, and communicates all timed, completed or uncompleted draws/charges/results to the client office staff and performs other duties as assigned. * Requests/obtains written physician orders with all required information necessary for lab services requested and accurately orders laboratory tests in computer system(s). * Prioritizes tasks and is able to multi-task. * Performs and collects phlebotomy specimens within cost and maintains efforts of a less than 2 percent recollection or cancellation rate. * Follows TJC National Patient Safety goals in regard to two patient identifiers and handwashing. * Presents a friendly, approachable, professional demeanor and appearance. * Provides accurate information and timely updates to patients and customers. * Addresses questions and concerns promptly, or identifies appropriate person or recourse to do so. * Demonstrates teamwork by helping co-workers within and across departments. * Communicates effectively with others, respects diverse opinions and styles and acknowledges the assistance and contributions of others. * Uses organizational and unit/department resources efficiently. * Manages work schedule efficiently, completing tasks and assignments on time. * Participates in efforts to reduce costs, streamline work processes and improve and grow services we provide. * Communicates and notifies Laboratory and/or Physician of problems with specimen procurement to ensure optimal care. * Provides follow up on test results to appropriate individuals in a professional and courteous manner. * Continuously updated on information by reading emails and demonstrates compliance in MediaLab. * Maintains a safe work environment, holds self-accountable for safe work practices, performs all aspects of daily work in a manner that contributes and ensures an environment of patient safety. * Adheres to all recommendations and requirements of the Lab and Hospital Safety Committee. * Performs all aspects of patient care in a manner that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health care errors. * Complies with all organizational policies regarding ethical business practices. * Performs clerical duties directly related to handling and processing of lab specimens. * Performs clerical work; faxing, printing, filing, reviewing, and verbally releasing laboratory results. * Initiates the meeting of responsibilities without prompting and can complete tasks independently without immediate supervision. * Demonstrates the values of team concept on a consistent basis. * Interacts with all team members in a professional manner and aids/assists coworkers to complete assigned tasks. * Travel to additional sites when needed. Qualifications Required: * High School diploma or equivalent. * Phlebotomy certification through a nationally recognized organization or training from a phlebotomy school or medical institution or one or more years of phlebotomy experience in a healthcare setting.     Responsible for the efficient and effective collection of plasma from donors by performing venipuncture, monitoring the pheresis process and following Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). **Job Description:** 1 In compliance with SOPs, performs all aspects of the pheresis procedure and plasma collection, including donor set-up, donor monitoring and donor disconnect. 2 In compliance with SOPs and Food & Drug Administration (FDA) guidelines, performs venipuncture on donors to begin pheresis process. 3 Evaluates vein performance of the donor to identify possible problems; makes necessary corrections in order to expedite donation time and ensure product quality and donor safety. Ensures donation process is efficient and makes adjustments when necessary to make the process a positive experience for the donor. 4 May educate new donors on the use of therapeutic products made from donated plasma. Explains the screening process, the health screening tests performed, the appointment system, donation fees, center policies, proper nutrition and any other information pertinent to the donor. Ensures that all donor questions are answered timely, accurately and professionally. 5 Maintains alertness to any reaction by donors and assists with reactions or notifies appropriate staff. 6 Uses Personal Digital Assistant (PDA) to record incidents that occur during the pheresis process, such as machine alerts and alarms, volume variances and donor adverse events. 7 Required to perform calibrations and verify that maintenance has been performed as outlined in the SOPs. Required to respond to and resolve complex equipment alarms or donor issues. 8 Troubleshoots equipment failures. Creates incident documentation, removes and/or replaces equipment from service. 9 Monitors donor flow on the donor floor to assure continuous turnover. Alerts Group Leader of Supervisor of donor flow issues. 10 Collects arm samples or whole blood samples from donors for testing. 11 Ensures the accurate recording of donor data in the electronic donor information management system as outlined in the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). 12 Understands the policies and procedures associated with hyper immune programs at the center if applicable. 13 Maintains clean efficient work environment, and ensures sufficient operating supplies and forms are available as needed. Requirements As Physician Reviewer/Advisor, you will utilize clinical expertise and reviews insurance appeals, and prospective and retrospective claims. The Physician Reviewer will provide an interpretation of the medical necessity of services provided by other healthcare professionals in compliance with client specific policies, nationally recognized evidence-based guidelines, and standards of care.
