Piedmont Columbus Regional dates back to 1836 when the local hospital was a small building on the Chattahoochee River. The NursePractitioner (NP) is responsible for assuring quality care and best practice for select cardiothoracic patients under the direct supervision of a physician. In particular, the NP will ensure patients receive appropriate and timely assessments, treatments, education, and disposition to support the quality initiatives of the cardiothoracic service line which reflects best practice. This objective includes, but is not limited to, the CMS, ACC, and top performers initiative. Documentation of care will support care given. The NP will work with the hospital staff to facilitate throughput for patient flow and timely discharge. The NP may perform his/her duties at St. Joseph?s/Candler health system where the physician regularly sees patients. He/she is not precluded from performing any functions delegated by the supervising physician which is included in the collaborative practice agreements and is consistent with the NP qualifications. Supervision means overseeing the activities of, and accepting the responsibility for, the medical services rendered by a NP. The supervising physician need not be physically present at the time of the services but shall be immediately available by telecommunications and within reasonable travel distance to assume personal care. The NP is expected to understand and comply with all current laws, rules and regulations which govern the practice of NursePractitioners in the State of Georgia and will be acknowledging this by affixing their signature on the NP practice application. The NP may gather a database on select cardiothoracic patients, which may include a complete medical history and physical examination and medical record review. He/she may order the appropriate initial diagnostic studies and initiate and transcribe orders under the direct order of the physician. The NP will be responsible for transmitting that effectively communicating that information orally or through notation in the patient's medical record, to the supervising physician for review and to the St. Joseph?s/Candler health system staff providing care to the patients and family. The NP may order/select a dangerous drug or controlled substance or order medical treatments or diagnostic studies in any health care setting in accordance with Rule 360-32-.02(5) between the NursePractitioner and delegating physician. The NP, if qualified by training and experience as determined by the supervising physician, may perform medical treatments, diagnostic procedures, or tasks as delegated by the supervising physician which fall within the scope of the collaborative practice agreements with the supervising physician. The NP shall be on-call with their supervising physician(s) and return to the hospital within 30 minutes of notification for urgent/emergent situations. In a life threatening emergency situation, when the supervising physician is not present, the NP may initiate appropriate evaluation and treatment. The NP may carry out a prescription drug or device order in any health care setting in accordance with Rule 360-32-.02(6) between the NursePractitioner and delegating physician. The NP shall attend professional education programs to keep current with accepted changes in practice and to satisfy continuing education requirements of the State.

Obtains a complete history and physical on new patients. Charts and dictates progress notes appropriately. Confers with physician on patients presenting with more complex problems.
Prescribes medications that are necessary to control medical condition. Refers patient to specialist when necessary. Orders lab work, radiology studies as needed to better assess the patient's condition.
Assist in surgery both in an in-patient and out-patient setting. Performs procedures as directed by Cardiologist/Surgeon.
Works up new patients to include admissions, consults and discharge summaries. Rounds on patients as directed by the Cardiologist/Surgeon and effectively communicates plan of care and results to patient and families.
Reviews all lab and radiology reports and consult notes and reviews with physician when a question arises. Notifies patient of test results.
Performs minor surgical procedures. Performs stress testing and EKGs, and consults with physicians on results.

We are seeking a clinic based APP for Tanner Health's General Cardiology service. The APP will join a multi-provider team of physicians and other APP's who reports to the Director of Practice Operations at Tanner Heart and Vascular Specialist. Additionally, this position will provide 1 weekend of inpatient service every 8th week. There will be two days off during the week the inpatient service is provided. Tanner Heart and Vascular Specialist is part of Tanner Medical Group which consists of 42 individual practices and has approximately 270 total providers.
This APP will work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary healthcare team to provide services for patients with cardiac issues in the clinic while treating your own general cardiology patients and clearing surgical consults. He/she will collaborate with other providers while conducting physical exams, diagnose and treat acute and chronic issues, order and interpret diagnostic test including lab work and imaging studies, provide education and counseling to patients while maintaining medical records via EPIC EMR.

Job Description
At Children's Healthcare of Atlanta, our pediatric Urgent Care Centers are staffed seven days a week with providers who are specially trained to treat non-life-threatening illnesses in children and teens.

As an Advanced Practice Provider, you will be responsible for providing comprehensive care at an advanced practice level to children and their families through assessment, communication, clinical management, collaboration, coordination, education, program development, research, self-evaluation, professional development, and system participation.
To care for our urgent care patients, heavy evening and weekend work will be expected.
Experience
* No minimum experience required
Preferred Qualifications
* 2 years of experience in pediatric healthcare preferred
* Doctorate degree in Nursing Practice or Master's or Doctorate degree in Medical Science
Education
* Master's degree in nursing or bachelor's degree in medical science
Certification Summary
* Licensure as a Registered Nurse in the single State of Georgia OR Multi-State through the Enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact and Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) licensure in the state of Georgia OR licensure as a Physician Assistant in the state of Georgia
* Certification as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse by the American Nurse Credentialing Center (ANCC), American Academy of NursePractitioner Certification Program (AANP), Pediatric Nursing Certification Board (PNCB), or National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA), (Certification as Family NursePractitioner may be acceptable with CNO approval)
* Basic Life Support (BLS) certification upon hire
* Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) within 60 days of hire for NursePractitioners and Physician Assistants working in Emergency Medicine, Urgent Care, Anesthesia, Hematology/Oncology, and Critical Care (NursePractitioners or Physician Assistants working in Neonatology may provide NRP certification in lieu of PALS)
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
* Proficient knowledge of Georgia Scope of Practice for NursePractitioners and/or Physician Assistants, Joint Commission regulatory requirements and Credentialing process of NursePractitioners and Physician Assistants

Job Responsibilities
Clinical
* Provide comprehensive patient care management within a collaborative practice model for children of all ages under the supervision of the supervising/collaborating physician within the scope of practice outlined by state statute and Children's bylaws in the inpatient and/or ambulatory settings. This includes:
* Performing comprehensive histories and physical exams and identifying normal and abnormal findings, including physical, cognitive, and psychosocial status
* Ordering and interpreting laboratory and diagnostic tests
* Developing pharmaceutical and non-pharmaceutical treatment plans
* Serving as an educational resource for patients, families, health care professionals, and students
* Facilitating patient referrals to other medical providers, medical facilities, and other health/social service agencies as needed
* Collaborating and/or consulting with physicians and other health care providers as appropriate
