In November 2005, Host announced the acquisition of a portfolio of hotels from Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, Inc. under brand names including Westin, Sheraton, W, St Regis and The Luxury Collection.
In conjunction with the Starwood transaction, on April 19, 2006, the company changed its name from Host Marriott Corporation to Host Hotels & Resorts, Inc. to reflect its enhanced brand diversity.
Interstate is selected to manage the first Hilton-branded hotel in Moscow, the Hilton Leningradskaya, which re-opens in 2008 after extensive renovations.
In 2011, Interstate transitioned 171 hotels, growing its portfolio by 60% and by year-end, the company operated and/or owned 387 hotels.
On March 23, 2012, Host L.P. sold the San Francisco Airport Marriott in Burlingame, California.
In December 2012, it acquired five hotels from Whitehall comprising 1,733 rooms in two countries.”
Originally founded over 50 years ago in the U.S, Interstate Hotels & Resorts established the European and Russian divisions in 2013.
Interstate named to manage J Hotel, located in the under-construction Shanghai Tower, anticipated to be the highest hotel upon opening in late 2014.
By the time it closed in 2016 to be part of a private development, the hotel was achieving high occupancies with dynamic packaging to wholesalers and online retailers as well as to direct consumers.
