    Fall 2025 Term ABC House is looking for a Family Advocate Intern to join our Assessment team. This internship is in-person and will last for the duration of your university's internship program. The ideal candidate will have experience working with children and is enrolled in an undergraduate program in a field related to social work. Our internship program provides an opportunity for students to gain experience working with children and families through a trauma lens and a direct application of advocacy services. The goal of advocacy services is to minimize trauma from the assessment process on both the child and family and help ensure that their service needs are met. In addition, the intern will work with a team of professionals including child abuse medical providers, forensic interviewers, advocates, Oregon Department of Human Services, and law enforcement. Principal duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to: Provide on-site family support and referral services for clients and their family members - Prepare intake paperwork and resource material for client and caregivers. - Orient family on appointment process and assist in completion of paperwork, including Crimes Victims' Compensation application. - Provide support to family during the appointment, including identifying needs and making service referrals as needed. Assist with data tracking and other clerical/administrative duties. Provide outreach and follow-up support services to clients and their families. Qualifications and skills required: - Enrolled in undergraduate degree program in Human Services or a field related to human services. - Excellent interpersonal skills, including a warm and approachable demeanor. - Ability to build rapport with children and adults potentially impacted by trauma. - Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office suite and database programs. - Licensed, insured driver with access to reliable transportation. - Ability to successfully complete a criminal background check and child abuse registry check. Position Summary We are seeking to fill one position as either a Hazardous Waste Program Specialist (Environmental Health & Safety Professional 2) or a Hazardous Waste Program Coordinator (Environmental Health & Safety Professional 3). Responsibilities of the Hazardous Waste Program Specialist: As part of Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) department at the University of Oregon, the Hazardous Waste Specialist collects, documents, and disposes of hazardous, universal, and biohazardous waste consistent with state and federal law. The Hazardous Waste Specialist trains university waste generators on efficient processing, appropriate documentation, and required disposal practices for their regulated wastes. The Hazardous Waste Specialist schedules and coordinates waste shipments with hazardous waste vendors, checks and signs hazardous waste manifests, and keeps detailed records. The Hazardous Waste Specialist provides regular feedback to campus partners and EHS management, enabling continued regulatory compliance. Collaboration and communication with other parts of EHS are key to day-to-day interactions. Responsibilities of the Hazardous Waste Program Coordinator: The Hazardous Waste Program Coordinator is responsible for managing hazardous waste disposal processes for the Eugene campus (~300 acres, 80+ buildings, and total property value in excess of $3.8 billion) and provides oversight and technical expertise to operations conducting hazardous waste management at satellite campuses. This position conducts and leads operations providing for employee safety and protection of the environment under UO policy IV.05.01. The Hazardous Waste Program Coordinator serves as a backup for the Hazardous Materials Manager and Chemical Safety Officer. The Hazardous Waste Program Coordinator leads the work of 1-2 hazardous materials/waste specialists, 1-2 student workers, and will have primary responsibility for oversight of the day-to-day management of hazardous waste disposal contractors' and vendors' work including having the authority to halt hazardous waste management work of UO contractors or staff if necessary. Special Requirements for both levels: • This position requires the 40-hour HAZWOPER training or will successfully acquire training within 6 months of hire. • This position requires the RCRA subject matter specialist training or ability to acquire within 6 months of hire. • This position requires the Hazardous Materials Shipping (CFR 49) subject matter specialist training or ability to acquire within 6 months of hire. • This position will require a valid driver's license and the ability to obtain UO Driver's Certification Work Schedule for both levels: This position provides essential services to university operations, both routine and emergency and must be available for 24-hour call-back response to incidents involving hazardous materials, or other incidents as necessary. Boatwright, Jr. Intern will work primarily with OGA's Championship and Events Department this includes adult and Junior championships and events; with additional departmental exposure to the Oregon Golf Association including events, Handicapping and Course Rating, Communications and Marketing, and Member/Club Relations and Development. Primary Areas of Responsibility (include but not limited to) OGA Championships and Events Department: Assist with operations of all Championships events and OGA Junior Golf events and USGA Qualifiers operated by the OGA. General tournament set-up and preparation including drafting local rules, player eligibility and membership. Golf course marking and set-up including equipment set-up and tear-down. Tournament operational responsibilities as required to ensure tournaments run effectively and efficiently. Volunteer support and coordination. Communication with players on and off the course via e-mail and phone correspondence. Frequent use of the tournament software, Golf Genius TM product. Monitoring equipment inventory, maintenance, and replenishment. Social medial which includes event recaps and creative design work. Create newsletter with results, recaps, and photos from the season. Attend the USGA Intern Orientation in New Jersey in May 2024. Duties include course marking, event set-up, drafting local rules, entry flow, player eligibility and membership, event recaps and pre-administration. This position will have significant interaction with players and volunteers on the course, via e-mail and phone. Secondary Areas of Responsibility Handicapping and Course Rating: Expected to accompany the Manager of Course Rating on a course rating trip. Intern will receive exposure to GHIN, membership & the administration of the USGA Handicap System. Communications and Marketing: Will assist with media (photographing and writing) coverage for tournaments and will be expected to update the association website and social media sites. The intern will help maintain data in the association CRM. If experienced, graphic design duties may be assigned. General Association Support: Provide support to all staff including, but not limited to, answering phones, processing mailers, operating various office equipment. Qualifications A college degree (completed or in progress) preferred but not required. Applicants must have a high interest in golf administration, be self-motivated, personable, willing to work flexible hours, and possess strong verbal and written communication and organizational skills. Proficiency in MS Office is essential. Golf background is helpful, but not required.
