In this position the Primary Metallurgical QA Professional has technical oversight for the metallurgical process defined on every product. This position is responsible to ensure that every heat has a process route that satisfies a customer order/requirement, process review is performed, and nonconformance testing is added as needed according to standard 6.02.10. Production scheduling is performed so the individual operations are optimized based on shop conditions. Required to work rotating shift, overtime, and weekends as per business needs. Responsibilities * Audit to ensure that hourly associates follow standard manufacturing processes, provide direction to melt shop supervision and hourly associates, answer questions, and offer guidance during unusual situations. Evaluate final chemistry and determine if heats meet customer requirements. Rate heats based on standards 42.09.01, 06.02.10, 06.01.03, work order requirements and Metallus mill order requirements. * Responsible to document manufacturing processes nonconformances (Class 9 events) and actions taken per standard 06.02.10. Collect and report process data in the daily Heat Summary Report. Apply both standard and nonconformance testing. * Responsible to adjust schedules to maintain productivity at the melt shop, bottom pour, caster, and rolling mill. Determine the lowest cost heat divert solution for off chemistry or manufacturing problem heats while maintaining the Metallus brand. Understand the cost of chemical elements added to steel and the differences between grades of steel.     MMI Engineered Solutions is hiring a Quality Auditor to support our production and engineering teams by ensuring that all parts and processes meet strict internal and customer quality standards. This role is hands-on, working directly on the production floor to perform inspections, monitor processes, and support quality improvement efforts. Schedule: A set home shift of 7:30am - 3:00pm, with occasional cross-shift coverage on morning, afternoon, or night shifts as needed. Key Responsibilities: * Perform dimensional and visual inspections using standard gaging tools (calipers, micrometers, height gages, fixtures) * Maintain First Article samples and Visual Acceptance Standards (VAS) * Keep Quality Process Books current with inspection criteria and run data * Conduct system, product, and process audits and communicate findings to supervisors and the Quality Manager * Support production teams on quality issues and containment actions * Assist with receiving inspections, tool trials, and Gage R&R studies * Participate in customer and supplier problem-solving activities * Help monitor floor quality and perform audits for process compliance * Contribute to plant-wide 5S (Clean, Organized, Safe) initiatives Required Qualifications: * High School Diploma or GED required * Minimum 3 years of experience in a quality inspection or auditing role * Familiarity with injection molding processes preferred * Skilled in the use of inspection tools and techniques * Strong communication and organization skills * Able to lift up to 50 lbs and stand/walk on the production floor for extended periods * Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) Work Environment & Expectations: * This position requires attention to detail, a hands-on approach, and strong communication with cross-functional teams. * Work under direct supervision and follow established procedures while maintaining awareness of safety and quality across the floor. * About 50% of your time will be spent in the manufacturing environment, and you'll be expected to act quickly when quality or safety concerns arise.
