Quinebaug Valley Community College company history timeline

1971

Under the leadership of President Robert E. Miller, the College began offering classes on September 27, 1971.

Opened in September 1971, the college has an open admissions policy with 17 programs leading to Associate degrees and 24 certificate programs ranging from Allied Health to Technology Studies.

1992

Following the retirement of Doctor Miller, in May 1992 Dianne E. Williams became the College’s second president.

1998

In fall 2005, there were 243 students enrolled in distance learning courses. It first offered distance learning courses in 1998.

2007

In 2007, the campus expanded to include a 30,000 West Wing of classrooms, SPIROL art gallery, bookstore, faculty offices, and community room.

2014

In May 2014, the College opened a 38,000 square-foot wing, which houses the Quinebaug Middle College high school.

Carlee Drummer became the fourth president in July 2014.

2016

The most recent expansion to the Danielson campus came in 2016, with the opening of the 10,000 square foot Advanced Manufacturing Technology Center for Eastern Connecticut.

2019

Doctor Rose Ellis became the QVCC Interim Campus Chief Executive Officer as of July 1, 2019.

2021

A new era began as of July 1, 2021 when Doctor Karen Hynick began in the position of QVCC Chief Executive Officer.

After a nationwide search, Doctor Karen Hynick became the permanent, and first, QVCC CEO as of July 2, 2021
