The Composite Fabricator II works closely with engineering staff, technicians, and vendors/suppliers in the fabrication of tooling, structures, and components utilizing a variety of materials. POSITION SUMMARY: The production technician will be responsible for efficiently operating specialty CNC manufacturing equipment in a production setting, transporting materials in process and performing assembly processes. The technician will be responsible for maintaining quality products and interacting with the operations and engineering teams to improve processes to maximize production volumes and minimize scrapped production due to in-process defects. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Conduct setups and load materials to perform production operations. Monitor production processes and adjust machine settings as needed to ensure consistent quality and efficient production rates. Inspect and measure machined parts to ensure they meet design specifications and quality standards. Use precision tools and equipment, such as micrometers, calipers, and gauges, to measure and verify dimensions. Follow standard operating procedures and work instructions to ensure consistent and high-quality production. Keep work area clean and organized and maintain equipment in good working condition. Adhere to all safety protocols and regulations, including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment. Assist with other production-related tasks as needed. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: High school diploma or equivalent; technical degree or certification in machining or manufacturing is preferred Strong attention to detail and quality control skills Experienced in production assembly operations Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications Experience with manual machining equipment, including lathes, milling machines, and drill presses Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment. Must be willing to travel. Ability to work flexible hours as needed to meet production schedules. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals. Ability to communicate complex concepts effectively with all levels of the organization in both verbal and written forms. ADDITIONAL SKILLS AND ABILITIES ARE A PLUS: Assembly/fabrication equipment operation (2+ years) Industrial CNC equipment programming (2+ years) Six sigma/lean methodologies Experience in plastics industry (2+ years) Experience in fiberglass repair industry (2+ years) Strong problem solving and analytical skills. PLC and HMI diagnostic/repair experience is a plus (2+ year). CERTIFICATIONS/LISCENCES: Must obtain and maintain the applicable employee license with the Texas Railroad Commission; must pass test within 45 days of hire. Must possess a current and valid driver license with a driving record that meets the insurability guidelines set forth by the company's insurance carrier. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: This role requires the operator to perform the following: Stand for long periods of time. Ability to lift and move heavy equipment and parts up to 50 lbs. Perform repetitive motions with the hands/wrists/arms. Bending, twisting, and reaching to access the materials and machine components. Pushing or pulling heavy carts or dollies. Occasional climbing, balancing, and stooping to perform maintenance or adjustments to equipment.
