The GBS Group, an engineering services and consulting firm, is seeking a Maritime Navigation Systems Engineer to join our Virginia Beach headquarters office. The GBS Group designs and delivers high technology services and solutions to most advanced naval and maritime ships, as well as to special purpose platforms and assets. Qualifications EDUCATION/KNOWLEDGE: Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Architecture, or related field. FE/EIT preferred. Knowledge of engineering principles of construction management and project controls. Knowledge of one of the following services: critical path method scheduling, cost estimating, project budgeting, delay analysis, constructibility and design review, inspections, quantity take-offs. Must possess OSHA 10-hour or OSHA 30-hour certification or obtain within 3 months of hire. SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office programs, CADD, graphics, writing capabilities, and ability to work independently. Ability to obtain and maintain industry certifications specific to duties assigned. Ability to read and interpret engineering plans, specifications and technical reports. Ability to maintain records and prepare reports and correspondence related to the work. Ability to communicate effectively with others. Ability to maintain favorable public relations. Able to stand and sit as needed on project work sites, climb ladders, work at heights, and work outdoors in a wide range of weather conditions. Ability to safely navigate construction work sites with uneven terrain. GUIDANCE/RESPONSIBILITY: Work is closely supervised. SUPERVISORY: Ability to supervise assistants in technical/administrative roles.
