Working with multi-discipline teams to support coupled safety analyses using Framatome's advanced tools and methods.
Modeling core configurations and calculating associated nuclear parameters using neutronic simulation and spectral codes.
Providing inputs for downstream analyses and documenting the analyzed results.

Job Description:
Welcome to Schnabel Engineering in Blacksburg, Virginia! We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic individual who is interested in developing both field and analytical skills, and who thrives in a collaborative, team-oriented environment. Our Blacksburg staff work on projects throughout the country as well as close to home, helping our local communities and clients by improving our nation's infrastructure.
Job Responsibilities:
Plan, coordinate, and execute geotechnical field work
Use GIS/GPS and related technology to aid in planning and executing geotechnical field work
Log test borings in the field
Observe geotechnical-related construction and perform materials testing
Prepare field reports
Use AutoCAD and GIS to create plan sheets and figures for reports
Assign and review laboratory tests
Interpret data and perform calculations to support geotechnical designs
Provide support on preparation of geotechnical reports and proposals
Communicate with subcontractors, project managers, and clients about project progress and milestones to facilitate project performance
Required Skills/Experience:
Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or related major from an ABET-accredited program
0-2 years of professional experience
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Willingness and ability to perform field work and travel, including assignments that may last several weeks to months away from the office
Positive, outgoing attitude
Ability to coordinate, multi-task, and communicate with subcontractors, managers, and clients by phone, email, video-chat, and other means of communication
Strong work ethic and a desire for continual self-improvement
Valid Driver's License
Ability to lift 60 pounds and be physically able to negotiate construction sites, hike difficult terrain, enter trenches, climb ladders and work outside
Desired Skills/Experience:
EIT certification
Geotechnical-focused undergraduate coursework is preferred
Prior internship or professional work in a related field (i.e. geotechnical engineering, construction, civil engineering, etc.)
Prior internship experience in construction materials testing
Experience with AutoCAD Civil3D or similar drafting programs
Other Requirements:
Ability to pass a background check which may include criminal history, motor vehicle record, and credit check
Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening
The compensation range for this position is between $57,200 to $86,000.â¯Compensation for this position may vary based on geographic location and other factors. We remain committed to providing competitive and equitable compensation to all employees, regardless of their location.
