The Carle Foundation is a vertically integrated healthcare system with almost 17,000 employees, a multi-specialty physician group, eight hospitals, and health plans. Carle also collaborates extensively with the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (Illinois) in a number of initiatives. These include the Carle Illinois College of Medicine, the world's first engineering-based medical school, and the Carle Illinois Advanced Imaging Center (CIAIC). In addition to the primary appointment at Carle, additional academic appointments are possible in the relevant Illinois departments and at the Beckman Institute for Advanced Science and Technology. Carle is making a multi-million dollar investment in its research infrastructure, including CCIRP, CIAIC, clinical trials management, investigator-initiated support services, and other initiatives. The CIAIC's principal focus is a 7T Siemens TERRA whole-body MRI scanner, an FDA-approved system that is used for both research and clinical purposes and that is the only such system in the State of Illinois. This position will be part of the Translational Research and Medicine-Oncology team, with a primary focus on advancing translational research to support oncology programs in clinical trial stages. This individual will be responsible for designing, oversighting, and interpretating translational studies to understand mechanism of action, resistance pathways, and potential new indications. Role Summary Internship Term: Winter/Spring 2026 Rivian internships are experiences optimized for student candidates. Join as Validation Engineer Intern in Electrical Hardware Architecture team. You will be part of the team to build Rivian's next generation hardware platform to enhance vehicle performance and autonomous driving capabilities. Responsibilities Work w/ SoC validation team to refine and execute the SoC validation plan Use C/C++ software to validate SoC for the next generation hardware design, enable SoC boot sequence, peripheral interfaces. Generate test coverage reports. Build benchmark tools to evaluate performance of the hardware system, including throughput, latency, resource utilization, IO or compute frequency metrics Document validation progress and results in Rivian's tracking system, to maintain good traceability Qualifications Must be currently pursuing a bachelors, masters, or PhD degree at the University of Illinois Urbana Champaign. Actively pursuing a degree or one closely related in Electrical or Computer Science Engineering. Solid in C/C++ and scripting language (e.g., Python, Linux shell, etc) Strong analytical skills, written and verbal communication skills, and a team player Experience with courses or projects focusing on platform/embedded software development Prior experience in SoC peripheral interfaces like JTAG, I2C, UART, SPI, ethernet, DDR, PCIe is a plus Prior experience in camera data processing like MIPIinterfaces, ISP, video encoder is a plus Prior experience in AMD Zynq FPGA Petalinux development is a plus #LI-HH2 Pay Disclosure Salary Range/Hourly Rate for Internships: The range of pay for internships is 25.00-51.00 per hour. Actual compensation will be determined based on location, and other factors permitted by law.
