Department/Unit: Neuroscience & Experimental Therapeutic Work Shift: Day (United States of America) Salary Range: $40,495.10 - $52,643.64 A technician position is available to study sex differences in risk factors for dementia. Risk factors of interest include: menopause, andropause, diet-induced obesity, vascular damage, and chronic stress. Our studies utilize a variety of approaches, including in vivo cerebral blood flow measurements, in vivo gene manipulation (AAVs), cognitive behavioral testing, endothelial translatome (TRAP-seq), transcriptomics, molecular biology, immunohistochemistry, mouse models of metabolic disease, menopause, andropause, vascular dementia, multi-etiology dementia, and Alzheimer's disease. Responsibilities: In addition to becoming proficient in laboratory techniques, the research technician will also be expected to manage the research mouse colony, including animal husbandry and genotyping, perform general lab maintenance (e.g. purchasing and maintaining inventories of lab supplies), assist with training new lab members, and aiding in completing lab experiments. Technicians also have the opportunity to lead projects. Requirements: Candidates should have a B.S. in Neuroscience, Biology, Psychology, or a related discipline.
