INTERNSHIP - Sea Turtle Research
Research technician job in Naples, FL
During the course of this internship, the participant will gain experience and hands-on training in the field of sea turtle research. This position is challenging and requires participants be enthusiastic, self-motivated, hard-working and dedicated to animal welfare. In return, the Intern will receive in-depth hands-on training in all aspects of sea turtle nesting and conservation. Interns will learn how to use ATV's and operate boats as well as the intricacies of working at night on a barrier island. Furthermore, interns will not only gain confidence working with endangered and threatened sea turtle species, but also develop confidence and capability as a scientist working in the field of wildlife conservation.
Essential Duties
* Will monitor beaches on Keewaydin Island and the City of Naples between Doctor's Pass and Gordon Pass for sea turtle nesting activity.
* Cage nests and tag nesting turtles on the southern four miles of Keewaydin Island.
* Patrol on an ATV to look for nesting sea turtles (nights and/or days).
* Cage nests to prevent depredation by raccoons.
* Tag nesting females and accurately record data on carapace dimensions and nest locations.
* Monitor nest-hatching success by excavating nests and counting hatched and un-hatched eggs.
* Safely operate ATV and a motorboat; maintain the ATVs, a generator, and a motorboat by changing the oil on a regularly scheduled basis, fix flat tires, make sure gasoline is on the island to fuel the generator and ATVs, and prepare the equipment for the next evening after each night's field work is completed.
* Keep the field station clean during the course of the summer.
* Enter research information in computer system's database.
* Relate to the public in a cheerful, positive manner when asked questions about sea turtles while patrolling the beaches.
Education and/or experience: Applicant must be at least a college senior in one of the biological or environmental sciences, with BS or BA preferred.
Qualifications / Work Environment

Position Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Laboratory Technician I to join our team and support geotechnical, construction materials testing, and environmental projects. This role is responsible for performing laboratory testing and analysis on soil, concrete, asphalt, aggregates, and other construction materials to ensure compliance with industry standards and project specifications. Working in a controlled laboratory environment, the Lab Technician I plays a vital role in ensuring accurate, high-quality test results that support infrastructure and construction projects.

You will be responsible for preparing samples, operating and maintaining testing equipment, recording data, and assisting in maintaining laboratory organization and compliance.
Responsibilities
Perform routine laboratory testing on construction materials, including soil, concrete, and other construction materials following ASTM, AASHTO, and other applicable industry standards to ensure compliance with project specifications.
Ensure that project testing requirements are met and compliant with project specifications, requirements, and company policies and procedures.
Accurately document and report test results, maintaining detailed, organized, and error-free records.
Assist with sample preparation, handling, and proper storage, ensuring sample integrity, traceability, and adherence to laboratory protocols.
Operate laboratory testing equipment.

Key Responsibilities:
Pre-Procedure Preparation:

2+ years of experience. 50-mile radius rule. No more than a 3-month work history gap in the last year. RCIS, BLS, ACLS required. Will work both Cath & EP, so must have EP experience. Expected to scrub and monitor (recording). Will float between campuses, as needed. On-call rotation is required. The Cardiac Cath Lab Technician demonstrates critical thinking skills and judgment in assisting with the performance of imaging studies in the Cardiac Cath Lab. The Technician is responsible and accountable to perform studies timely, under the direction of the Cardiologist, Chief Technologist or Director of Imaging Services.

* Contrast Media Administration: Prepare and administer contrast media under the direction of a physician, following established protocols.
* Image Evaluation and Archiving: Evaluate images for technical quality and ensure proper archiving in the Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS)
* Patient Monitoring: Monitor patients during procedures, observing for any complications or unusual events, and report findings to the physician.
