The Nondestructive Testing Sr Technician will independently perform inspections utilizing various advanced NDT techniques (Phased Array UT, CR, DR) seeking corrosion, defects, or detrimental conditions in accordance with specific written criteria. The Sr. Technician will perform inspections, interpret indications, and report results per company requirements. The Sr. Technician will be able to communicate processes, procedures and results to customers. The Sr Technician will assist in training apprentices in the various NDT Methods. Job Title Research Technician I Agency Texas A&M University - Kingsville Department Kleberg Wildlife Research Institute Proposed Minimum Salary Commensurate Job Type Staff Job Description The Research Technician I will assist in a research project being conducted in South Texas focused on the effects of guinea grass on the space use and habitat selection of northern bobwhite. Fieldwork will occur on private rangeland around Kingsville. The position will last for 4.5 months (Spring 2026). The successful candidate will work as part of a crew consisting of a lead graduate research assistant as well as several undergraduate technicians from Texas A&M-Kingsville. The primary purpose of this position is to assist with northern bobwhite trapping and tracking. Fieldwork will include (but is not limited to): clearing and prepping bobwhite trap sites, distributing bait before bobwhite trapping, trapping and tagging live northern bobwhites, VHF tracking of tagged bobwhites using both handheld yagis and vehicle mounted omni antennas, and performing vegetation measurements. The candidate must be comfortable with the safe handling of wildlife. Fieldwork will primarily be performed by a crew at the beginning of the field season, but the applicant will eventually be tasked with completing fieldwork tasks (especially VHF tracking) independently. As such, the applicant must be comfortable working in both a group setting as well as alone. Since work will be performed on private rangeland, the applicant will need to follow all rules and regulations imposed by the landowners and respect all ranch property. Summary Responsible for safely conducting analysis and reporting of various products, such as crude oil, fuel oils, middle distillates, petroleum and petrochemicals, LPG and LNG gases as well as lubricants for the Natural Resources and Industries and Environment sectors. Job Functions Responsible for conducting laboratory analysis (hands on working on the bench). Complete all laboratory reports as applicable. Understand and keep current with all laboratory analysis methods. Assist with the maintenance and calibration of equipment. Understand and keep current with all laboratory safety and reporting techniques. Adheres to internal standards, policies and procedures. Prepare chemical solutions according to standard formulas. Qualifications Education and Experience High School Diploma or GED (Required) Associates Degree in a science discipline (Preferred) 1-year experience working in a laboratory setting (Preferred) For Crude Assay Technician: Previous experience in crude oil assay distillation per ASTM D2892 and ASTM D5236 (Preferred) Licenses and Certifications N/A Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Good organization skills, detailed oriented and completes tasks in a timely manner. (Required) Able to work in a routine repetitive fast paced work environment (Required) Able to stand on feet for long periods of time (Required) Ability to interpret a variety of instructions as may be furnished in oral, written, diagram, electronic or schedule form. (Required) For Crude Assay Technician: Possess working proficiency of ASTM D4052, D5002, D97, D5853, UOP 163, D4294; Understands and is able to read and interpolate applicable data and tables, interpret applicable graphs and control charts, complete laboratory raw data sheets, and is able to compute rates, ratio, percents and material quantities (linear, volumetric, weight, etc.); able to synthesize information from a variety of sources and evaluate relevance as pertains to crude assay trending properties.
