Riverbay company history timeline

1989

Mangroves in Triton and Sugar bays are still recovering from Hurricane Hugo (1989). Restoration is underway for red mangroves in Salt River Bay itself, which held the last major natural mangrove stand set in an estuary in the Virgin Islands.

2018

In 2018, the national park unit of Salt River Bay drew 4,884 visitors to its site of underwater reefs, historic sites, recreation, plus indigenous and colonial history.

2019

The Visitor Center was damaged during Hurricane Maria and is not currently open as of 2019.
