The role of FieldEngineer is critical as the entry-level liaison between office and field operations to provide communication and support such as technical expertise, material management, and execution of design in accordance with the production budget and customer expectations.
DUTIES, TASKS, AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Strategic Support (30%)
* Independently coordinate all mechanical and structural systems needed for each project to ensure proper scheduling between all vendors
* Autonomously review, analyze, and resolve field construction issues, discrepancies, or interferences with A/E, owner and/or contractor
* Confidently participate in all BIM meetings; carefully develop adjustments in design as required utilizing appropriate software and design tools
* Accurately create and submit weekly project reports including oversight and management of budgets

Engineering (35%)
* Precisely establish exterior-interior point locations and working lines and help evaluate additional potential dimensions

* Carefully perform heat gain and loss calculations to properly select and/or verify mechanical equipment type and size; ensure safe and effective equipment starting and testing
* Analytically create plumbing design to properly size DWV, water & PRV zones, and gas piping
* Clearly translate and maintain "As-Built" drawings and digital design into physical installation for field personnel and provide support throughout the project
* Efficiently answer on-site code and design requests to ensure work complies with all engineering standards, codes, specifications, and design instructions and verify installs per the design; communicate issues with non-conformance
* Carefully review truss, panel, and structural overlays and shop drawings to ensure no conflicts with design; escalate all potential conflicts and drive to resolution
* Proficiently manage submittals to ensure approval as well as communicate and manage changes to ensure alignment with project specifications

A Day in the Life:

Collects, coordinates and analysis shop drawings, design specifications, material requirements and project data through the duration of the project to ensure quality and contract specification compliance.
Provides technical input for project work plan and scheduling. Identifying risk elements of production, materials, equipment or process that could negatively impact the budget or schedule.
Evaluates daily production, schedule and budget projections to accurately track project performance. Documents daily activities in Company approved methods and technologies.
Remits accurate project quantity input and controls using assigned project cost coding to ensure project financials are accurately reported. Manages cost coding with Company finance and accounting teams regarding employee time, materials, equipment and subcontractor needs.
Reviews and approves daily timecards for all Company construction crews. Works with Office Manager, payroll and job construction supervisors to resolve timecard inquiries, as needed.
Reviews project specifications for quality assurance at the beginning of work, during the project work and after work completes. Initiates and manages appropriate certificates, inspections and other documentation regarding construction production on the project site.
Works with construction crews and engineering leaders to plan field layout on the project site, ensuring appropriate utility and commercial lines are marked before production begins. Initiates and manages any permits needed before work can begin.
Conducts required Job Hazard Analysis (JHAs) to ensure a safe and compliance work environment for all construction personnel. Attends weekly safety meetings with field team and project leadership; presents field analysis as needed.
Coordinates subcontractor work methods, schedule and crews as needed.
What we are looking for
Bachelor's Degree in a related field required.
2+ years of construction engineering, scheduling or design experience required.
Intermediate knowledge of cost coding, cost savings, budget and other project related financial implications required.
Intermediate knowledge of scheduling processes and industry best practices.

The FieldEngineering Specialist is responsible for providing technical leadership for assigned projects. This position will work closely with controls project management, engineering and controls technicians from development through closeout of assigned projects while also providing mentorship for involved associates. Oversight of all programming, checkout and commissioning tasks will be integral to this role.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Project Development Phase:
* Provide feedback to controls engineering group during controls submittal development.
* Review and provide feedback for sequence of operations during the engineering phase of assigned projects to ensure compatibility with current programming standards.
* Utilize familiarity of mechanical systems to assist engineering team with identifying potential design issues.
* Installation/Start-up Phase:
* Create and/or oversee the creation of program site databases, graphics, and associated programming.
* Participate in project turnover to project manager after controls submittal finalization.
* Provide technical assistance to Installation Team on assigned projects as required.
* Assist in scheduling, organizing, and dispatching Controls Technicians on assigned projects.
* Provide direction for the configuration, setup, and calibration of factory or field installed end while also ensuring proper completion of quality control documentation.
* Act as primary technical resource and mentor for all field personnel through the duration of assigned projects analyzing and diagnosing BAS and system issues should they arise.
* Closeout Phase:
* Oversee and or perform internal commissioning for assigned projects.
* Represent Brady during 3rd party commissioning on assigned projects as required.
* Work with project manager to compile final project documentation and redlines for as-built generation.
* Ensure project database and graphics database are backed up to network drive at job completion.
* Provide remote access information for sites to Virtual Service.
* Represent company by serving as a direct customer contact, working to develop, maintain, and enhance customer relationships.
* Provide on-site Owner Training Classes for customers.
* General:
* Collaborate with all Associates to uphold the company's mission and values
* Seeks out training and mentoring opportunities for other controls projects associates.
* Participate in Field Technician recruitment.
* Travel 10% of the time is required.
* Must be able to work overtime/weekends as required.
* Evaluate area safety needs/requirements to provide feedback and recommendations to service technicians and assists in the implementation of safety policies, procedures, and training.
* Adherence to company safety guidelines.
WORK HOURS: Monday thru Friday, overtime/weekends as required, some travel as required
