Position Responsibilities
Manage all aspects of environmental, health, safety and sustainable development programs
Direct environmental compliance and performance functions in accordance with government regulations, corporate compliance guidelines and applicable environmental requirements
Ensure timely submittal of all environmental reports
Promote an accident-free work environment by developing programs that routinely train, monitor and assure a safe workplace
Plan and deliver programs to train managers and employees in workplace safety practices
Assist in accident investigations and prepare accident reports required by regulatory agencies
Conduct inspections and audits in plant and at other facilities to detect existing or potential accident hazards and determine corrective or preventative measures
Facilitate the Central Safety Committee process by active participation in the subcommittee process and acting as a resource for each group
Administer initial Workers Compensation functions
Guide and direct plant toward compliance of State, Federal and local Safety and Environmental regulations
Determine and direct necessary compliance training for all individuals to assure OSHA, TOSHA, EPA and ConAgra training requirements
Maintain compliance with all permits and regulations that apply to the facility, Storm Water, NPDS, Wastewater, Waste Management.
Manage water spraying and wastewater containment during Freshpack, ensuring lagoons are emptied and maintained to prevent overflow and support environmental compliance.
Position Qualifications
Bachelor's degree from a four-year university in Industrial Hygiene, Safety Management, Environmental Health or Environmental Health and Safety preferred
Minimum of five years industrial safety experience and a CSP certification preferred
Experience building and leading teams
Thorough understanding of OSHA, EPA and DOT regulations
Ability to interpret State and Federal regulations and applicability to facility to ensure compliance
Ability to write regulatory reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals
Experience performing risk assessments and audits
Bilingual Spanish preferred not required

Compensation:
Annual Base Salary: $81,000.00 - $120,000.00

Essential Roles and Responsibilities Include:

* Assists in the development and implementation of Patient Safety Annual Goals and Objectives in line with McLaren Strategic Plan
* Responsible for development of the Patient Safety Plan and Areas of Focus
* Patient Safety Identification/Event Management
* Reviews incident trends for patients, employees and visitors and makes recommendations to administration for case status
* Identify adverse trends or individual patient safety concerns through Safety First, chart abstraction, referrals from management or hospital personnel, and any others identified.
* Notifies administration of quality or regulatory issues as appropriate when negative trends or events occur which need intervention and monitoring.
* Responsible for identifying and aggregating adverse trends and/or patient safety concerns for presentation to CMO and Patient Safety & Quality Committee
* Reports trends and recommendations to the appropriate executive and safety committees
* Compiles information from staff, managers, unit managers, site administrators and physicians on patient safety concerns and provides recommendations to leadership for next steps
* Conducts initial investigation of all potential patient safety events and provides summaries and recommendation to CMO and site administration ongoing.
* Investigations include but are not limited to: internal and external medical record review, staff and witness interviews, and other communication as appropriate
* Facilitates the Root Cause Analysis process in conjunction with CMO & CNO
* Works independently to promote patient safety to various hospital staff, hospital administration and to physician groups, utilizing culture of safety information.
* Develops/manages and presents education programs and other educational materials addressing areas of concern in patient safety
* Provides risk and patient safety orientation to newly hired employees
* Provides consultation regarding crisis situations (sentinel events, medical events, internal disaster, external disaster)
* Acts as system resource for disclosure process and learnings
* Initiates and oversees the development of a patient safety improvement program inclusive of the analysis and trending of data related to hospital initiatives.
* Proactively address patient safety utilizing data, information from Patient Safety Committees, Executive Rounding and other reports to analyze issues and determine their root causes.
* Collaborates with clinical leadership to develop strategies to minimize incidents. Develops programs and services that produce measurable improvements processes and practices that affect patient safety.
* Serves as a liaison to ensure clinical services are provided in accordance with safety standards established by federal and state regulatory agencies and the Joint Commission accreditation standards, including the National Patient Safety Goals.
* Communicates with and educates leadership and staff regarding patient safety initiatives and activities.
* Co-chairs the patient safety committee with CMO.
* Other duties as assigned or when necessary to maintain efficient operations of the department and the Company as a whole

Required Qualifications:
* Bachelor's Degree Required with Clinical Degree or other related field.
* Minimum seven years of healthcare experience preferably in risk and patient safety management.
* Certified Professional in Healthcare Risk Management (CPHRM) or other Patient Safety training/certification desired (CPPS, IHI Executive Development).
Preferred Qualifications:
* Master's Degree in Clinical Field
