SALARY RANGE Classroom assignment: $55.80 - $71.21 per hour Non-Classroom assignment: $41.85 - $53.41 per hour At the time that an offer of assignment is made, proper salary placement is contingent upon receipt of OFFICIAL (sealed) transcripts. Instructors with advanced coursework shall be placed on the appropriate class and step on the Adjunct College Salary Schedules, effective the first month following receipt (in Human Resources) of the official transcripts. Major Responsibilities * Primary duties of adjunct faculty members are related to curriculum and teaching; the assignment is divided between lecture and lab classes as determined by the department. Adjunct instructional faculty are required to be available to students outside of class. * Provide instruction in accordance with established curriculum and course outlines. * Maintain appropriate standards of professional conduct and ethics. * Maintain current knowledge in the subject matter areas. * Fulfill professional responsibilities of a part-time/temporary faculty member. * Teach all scheduled classes. * Maintain accurate records. * Provide quality instruction, create and maintain an environment which emphasizes teaching and learning and encourages free discussion of ideas, interests and issues. Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Master's degree in Homeland Security, Emergency Management, Emergency Preparedness, Crises Management, Disaster Management, or Cybersecurity OR the equivalent. Pending Title 5 Regulations on August 8, 2025: 53410(b)(3)(B) states: For faculty assigned to teach upper division courses in disciplines where the master's degree is not generally expected or available, but where a related bachelor's or associate degree is generally expected or available, the minimum qualifications include: * A bachelor's degree in the discipline directly related to the faculty member's teaching assignment, and * Six years of professional experience directly related to the teaching assignment, and * Licensure, (CSTI CA Specialized Training Institute Emergency Management Instructor Certification (EMIC) or can obtain certification within one year of employment.
