In 1986, the Santa Barbara Museum of Natural History opened the Sea Center on historic Stearns Wharf to communicate the biodiversity and ecological importance of the regional ocean environment.
In 1987, the Museum added the Sea Center on Stearns Wharf as an off-campus facility focused specifically on our regional coastal and ocean environment.
Newly renovated in 2018, the Museum boasts state-of-the-art interactive exhibits for all ages, paired with the Central Coast’s only planetarium, on 17 acres of oak woodland along Mission Creek.
Experience the all-new exhibit a day before it opens to the general public at the first in-person Members’ Party since 2019.
As of April 2021, admission is $10 for ages 16-64, $8 for seniors (65+) and teens (13-17) and $7 for children (2-12). Or purchase a family membership at the Santa Barbara Museum of Natural History and get in FREE anytime you want to both museums!
Join us in 2022 to sip and savor 100+ of the Central Coast's best wineries and culinary delights while enjoying a splendid summer afternoon in the Museum's oak woodland along Mission Creek.
