Provide Security for Bright Star Performances in the Fine Arts Center. Respond to and follow up on complaints, disturbances, and or requests to prevent potentially dangerous situations from occurring on campus property. Investigate incidents and violations, collect evidence, interview witnesses, and write incident reports. Identify hazards to safety and security; report them to the Director of Campus Safety. Monitor surveillance system, fire alarm system, and other emergency notification systems. Assist in preparing administrative and operational reports and maintaining files of no contact, no trespassing, protection and restraining orders. Act as a liaison to outside emergency services and law enforcement agencies. Assist with maintaining organized and effective security operations in the Campus Safety Office. The Parking Enforcement Officer plays a crucial role by patrolling University parking lots/ramps, enforcing parking regulations, and issuing citations. We utilize License Plate Recognition (LPR) technology equipped vehicles for patrolling our lots/ramps. Excellent customer service skills are required as this position interacts with a wide range of students, employees, and visitors. The normal work schedule for this position is Monday through Friday 7:00am to 3:30pm. This position serves as the primary parking enforcement officer for UWL Parking Services. The priority responsibilities are to patrol assigned parking areas, enforce compliance with UWL parking rules and regulations, and issue citations. The officer identifies maintenance issues and performs regular upkeep on parking equipment and parking lots/ramps. The officer also educates students, faculty, staff, and visitors on rules and regulations. The ability to communicate with a diverse population and use effective customer service skills is required. The primary work hours are Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Evenings, weekends, holidays, and coverage of special events may be required. Physical demands: Mental and physical demands are consistent with a moderate degree of decision-making stress when exercising authority or rendering services. Officer will be expected to patrol up to eight hours each day, which involves driving, walking and standing for long periods of time. Officer will be required to move barricades, signs or parking space bumper blocks and should be able to lift 50 pounds. Extra hours may be required for nights, weekends, or holidays due to special events, emergencies, or staff shortages. Working conditions and environment: The work demands expose the officer to all types of weather conditions including ice, sleet, rain, fog, snow, etc. Travel may be required for training or events. Key Job Responsibilities: Parking Lot/Ramp/Sign/Equipment Maintenance Inspect the condition of parking lots/ramps during daily patrols and report to the supervisor any conditions that require maintenance or repair. Maintain campus parking lots/ramps/equipment. Examples of tasks include: checking lots for damage and missing/damaged signs, disposing of trash, troubleshooting and maintaining parking meter, meter collection, and other cleaning and maintenance duties as required. Maintain and inspect required equipment on a daily basis, including vehicles assigned to Parking Services. Arrange for service and repairs, as required. Parking Enforcement and Patrol Patrol UWL parking lots/ramps in a License Plate Recognition (LPR) equipped vehicle and issue citations to vehicles in violation of UWL policies. Demonstrate effective public relations by courteously providing information, direction, and assistance to visitors, students, faculty, and staff. Respond to parking problems in UWL lots/ramps and take appropriate action. Maintain accurate records. May be required to attend and provide testimony in parking appeal meetings or court hearings. Set up barricades, cones and temporary signs. Maintain an orderly flow of vehicle and pedestrian traffic, as required. Train student employees on field operations and equipment usage. Read all departmental correspondence on a daily basis. Adhere to all state laws, university and departmental rules, policies, and procedures. Participate in and successfully complete all training required. Maintain an accurate, daily log of activities. Other duties Assist with front office tasks, including customer interaction, answering phones, processing payments, opening, and closing the office, as needed. Maintain knowledge of departmental policies and procedures, rules and regulations, and other issued directives. Provide input to improve Parking Services operations, policies, and procedures. Actively communicate with Parking Services staff. Assist with and provide support for special event parking. Report problems, disturbances, suspicious persons, or activities to police. Department: Parking Services Compensation: $18.00 / hour Required Qualifications: Minimum of high school diploma. Excellent customer service experience and skills. Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communications skills and the ability to interact with a broad range of people are essential for the position. Excellent computer/technology skills. Demonstrated ability to set priorities and manage multiple tasks. Make appropriate, quick decisions and exercise good judgment. Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and accuracy. Possess a valid driver's license. Authorization to drive a UWL vehicle is required. A criminal background check is required. Preferred Qualifications: Knowledge of parking technology (T2, Patroller, and Security Center). Experience directing traffic and providing directions. Knowledge of maintenance and repairs typically required for parking lots/ramps (sign repair/replacement, lot painting, asphalt and concrete repair, pressure washing, and meter operation).
