Sentara CarePlex Hospital located in Hampton, VA is hiring a Registered Nurse for Endoscopy/GI Lab Shift: Days: Scheduled Hours: 36 License and Certification Virginia or Compact Multi-State License in good standing Basic Life Support (BLS) within 90 days of hire Education RN-Associate's Degree, or RN-Bachelor's Degree, or RN-Diploma, or RN-Master's Degree Experience: Prior Endoscopy experience preferred. Experience with ERCP/EUS is highly desirable but not mandatory; we are willing to train the right candidate. We are seeking a skilled and versatile Registered Nurse to join our dynamic 2-Lab Endoscopy Department. This is a unique opportunity for an RN who enjoys a diverse workflow, ranging from diagnostic screenings to advanced interventional procedures. In this role, you will rotate through all aspects of the endoscopy environment, acting as the Circulator, Sedation Nurse, and Procedure Assistant (RN Technician). You will work side-by-side with proceduralists during complex GI and Pulmonary cases, ensuring high-quality, patient-centered care. Clinical Scope & Procedures Our unit performs a mix of routine diagnostic and advanced interventional procedures, including: Gastrointestinal:Diagnostic EGDs and Colonoscopies, Endoscopic Ultrasound (EUS), ERCP, Endoscopic Submucosal Dissection (ESD), and Endoscopic Mucosal Resection (EMR). Pulmonary:Diagnostic Bronchoscopies, Navigational Bronchoscopy, and Endobronchial Ultrasound (EBUS). Key Responsibilities Circulating & Patient Care:Manage the nursing process during the intra-procedure process. Document patient care accurately and maintain safety standards in the procedure room. Moderate Sedation:Administer and monitor moderate sedation under the direction of the physician, maintaining strict airway management and hemodynamic monitoring standards. Procedural Assistance (Scrub/Tech Duties):Function as the primary assistant to the physician at the bedside. This includes handling accessories (snares, forceps, clips), specimen collection, and assisting with advanced therapeutic interventions. Endoscope Reprocessing:Perform high-level disinfection and reprocessing of flexible endoscopes and accessories in accordance with infection control standards and manufacturer guidelines. This Includes 24-hour responsibility for departmental functions including management of personnel. They will provide Central Processing services for ancillary support areas as needed. The Supervisor demonstrate the philosophy, mission, and values of the hospital during all interactions with patients, families, staff and others.
