Overview
Assists the Physician, Advanced Practitioner, or Nurse in implementing plans of care for emergency/minor emergency care patients. Performs patient procedures and treatments under the supervision of the Physician, Advanced Practitioner, or Nurse.
De-escalation and physical intervention training within 15 days of hire.
BLS certification within 90 days of hire for all incumbents.
New incumbents must have one of the following in addition to the minimum Education :
1. EMT-B with state or national certification at time of hire OR
2. Successful completion of US Military Hospital Corps School, qualified MMAC candidates OR
3. Current student enrolled in clinical program (e.g., RN, LPN, Respiratory, Physical Therapy) having completed at least one semester within the program.
Candidates with prior employment in the Sentara ED tech job code in the past two years will also be considered in lieu of the 3 criteria above.

Essential Job Functions
* Administers radionuclide therapy.
* Prepares, performs QC and dispenses radiopharmaceuticals for off hour procedures.
* Performs urgent Nuclear Medicine procedures in an on-call status or in a single technologist staffing model
* Checks the order for complete information and proper exam and schedules exams as needed.
* Obtains sufficient information to determine whether the exam should be performed immediately or within a specific time frame.
* Determines if additional technical support is required and follows the proper procedure for obtaining support.
* Adheres to established section and organizational protocols, QA guidelines, and regulatory requirements.
* Interacts appropriately with patients and all care providers.
Imaging Procedures
* Coordinates the imaging room to coincide with the examination being performed to include the use of proper isolations precautions
when needed.
* Reviews images to determine if they are of diagnostic quality and adjusts factors if an image needs to be repeated.
* Starts and maintains intravenous (IV) access as prescribed by a licensed independent practitioner.
* Identifies, prepares, and/or administers medications as prescribed by a licensed independent practitioner.
* Procures, prepares quality control, calculates, identifies, documents, administers, disposes, stores and safely handles of radiopharmaceuticals and other radioactive materials.

• Administers radionuclide therapy.
• Prepares, performs QC and dispenses radiopharmaceuticals for off hour procedures.

Job Summary:
A Patient Care Technician (PCT) provides basic health care and support to patients under the guidance of the Registered Nurse or designated healthcare professional. As part of our team, the Patient Care Tech (PCT) is responsible for sanitizing and cleaning patients' rooms, monitoring patients' health and vital signs as well as assisting patients with basic needs like feeding and grooming.
Essential Job Functions
Provides basic patient care to include, but not limited to, care and comfort, vital sign measurement, personal care and hygiene, and assists with mobility, including unit-based specialty duties.
Acts as liaison between patient and nurse to report changes and/or concerns.
Provides high-level customer service to all patients, patient's family, visitors, and employees.
Provides accurate, precise, timely documentation when applicable for patient care.
Participates in hand-off/report of pertinent information regarding patient and departmental needs upon arrival and when leaving.
Performs delegated tasks once competency has been validated.
Mobilizes patients using therapeutic transfer techniques which foster independence and safety.
Fosters independence by encouraging patients to complete tasks as independently as possible.
Individualizes care based on patient's interests and hobbies.

BLS Basic Life Support (preferred upon hire, must obtain from approved source prior to direct patient care)
Must have completed one of the following: (required)
Successful completion of nursing aide training program OR
Successful passing of STNA State Tested Nurse Aide (required if OH LTC), OR CNA Certified Nurse Aide, OR Nurses Aide state testing or completed a nursing program that had one clinical nursing course and one clinical rotation OR 1 year of relevant experience in a clinical setting
Experience:
