As the Substitute BusDriver, your core responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:
ESSENTIAL PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Safely operates a school bus as a substitute driver, adhering to designated time schedules for transporting students to and from various destinations, including home, school sites, and field trips as required.
* Supervises the loading and unloading of students, ensuring compliance with safety belt usage and releasing students to authorized individuals.
* Upholds order and discipline among passengers, effectively handling disputes and documenting serious disciplinary incidents.
* Conducts thorough accident investigations as needed.
* Ensures the bus's safe and clean operation, promptly reporting mechanical issues, performing routine maintenance tasks like installing safety belts, cleaning the interior, and maintaining fuel and oil levels.

SCOPE OF DUTIES
Under the supervision of the Associate Director of Student Affairs, drives school vehicle for the purpose of transporting students.
PRIMARY DUTIES
Check and prepare vehicle for trip readiness (phones, credit cards, etc.)
Safely drive students to and from home to school.
Complete end of trip report.
Participate in training as required by school.
Communicate with students, staff, and parents as appropriate.
Vehicle maintenance such as cleaning, transporting to service centers and/or state inspections.

REQUIREMENTS
Valid Driver's License.
CDL-C Commercial License with "V" or "S" Endorsement for Student Transportation Vehicles.

Work Schedule and Compensation

Meal Reimbursement
Approved meal reimbursements will be paid out quarterly.

Guaranteed Hours and Pay Conditions
Eligible drivers, including permanent substitute drivers, are guaranteed five (5) paid hours per day on scheduled school-in-session days, provided the employee is available and reports as required. Guaranteed hours do not apply on non-school days unless otherwise specified in the collective bargaining agreement.
Weather-Related Cancellations
Compensation for weather-related cancellations will be paid only if the driver was scheduled to drive a route on the cancelled day.
Drivers not scheduled for a route on a weather-cancellation day are not eligible for guaranteed hours for that day.
Holidays and Scheduled Breaks
Holidays and breaks identified in the collective bargaining agreement will be paid only if the employee is scheduled to drive a route on the last scheduled school day before the break and the first scheduled school day after the break, unless otherwise stated in the contract.
Failure to work either day may result in loss of holiday pay unless approved by administration or addressed by contract provisions.
Field and Athletic/Sports Trip Assignments & Trip Assignment Procedures
Field trips and athletic/sports trips shall be assigned in accordance with the driver collective bargaining agreement.
Trips will first be offered to seniority drivers through the established posting and bidding process.
Substitute Driver Eligibility
A substitute driver may be assigned an additional field or athletic/sports trip only if no seniority driver has bid on or accepted the trip.
Substitute drivers must meet all licensing, training, and qualification requirements for the assignment.
Compensation
Field trips and athletic/sports trips are compensated at the driver trip rate, as defined in the collective bargaining agreement.
Route Assignment Disclaimer
The Transportation Department is under no obligation to offer a Permanent Substitute Driver a permanent route.
Permanent routes, when available, may be offered at the discretion of the Transportation Department.
Consideration for a permanent route will be based on quality of work performance, reliability, adherence to safety procedures, and compliance with district policies and the collective bargaining agreement.

Keep bus clean and neat. Sweep, empty trash at least every other day and fuel when needed.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
The work year, salary, and fringe benefits will be consistent with the current agreement between the Board of Education and the American Federation of State, County, and Municipal Employees. This position will remain open until the position is filled.

Pay Rate: $19.00-$22.72 per hour (based on experience)
The Lamphere School District is currently contracting the services of Edustaff for a BusDriver/Custodian position. The role offers a unique opportunity to work full-time, combining student transportation with custodial duties to provide a consistent 8 hours per day / 40 hours per week.
BusDrivers may also perform custodial work on non-student days, holiday breaks, and during the summer, ensuring stable, year around employment.
Minimum Qualifications:
High School diploma or equivalent
One year of successful experience transporting students (preferred)
Clean driving record (required)
Ability to maintain a current DOT Medical Card
Valid State of Michigan CDL license, type CB, with P,S, and Air Brake endorsements (We are willing to train candidates who do not yet have a CDL-B)
Strong communication and public relations skill when working with students, staff, and community
Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals
Sufficient strength, agility, and dexterity for all required tasks
Ability to perform routine custodial duties and withstand physical demands
Must pass all DOT required random drug/alcohol screenings
Other qualifications as determined by administration
Responsibilities:
Transportation
Safely transport assigned students in a courteous, professional manner
Perform and document daily pre- and post- trip inspections
