    The Regional Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) Manager will be responsible for partnering with a regional operations team in our Amazon Air Network to execute company WHS policies and ensure compliance to all applicable health and safety regulations. By leveraging principles of modern day safety science such as human performance, this individual will lead continuous improvement initiatives and influence operational leaders and support their teams to 'operationalise' safety to reduce safety risk in our processes, supporting the provision of a safe and healthy working environment for our Associates. The successful candidate must be able to build trust and inspire confidence with their operations team. Influence change by being able to clearly articulate how and why. Successfully support the building of risk foresight into our operational practices and be able to analyse safety data. They must be an effective communicator and send clear, concise and consistent messages, both verbally and in writing. They must support and develop senior operational leaders on WHS theory, practice, policies and assist the Air regional teams in embedding, simplifying and innovating our WHS standards throughout their sites. This role will be a single threaded leader focusing on compliance across Amazon Air AR & Safety Capex Project Operations. Key job responsibilities Possess a thorough understanding of Health and safety regulations and company policies. Provide guidance and oversight to assure compliance to all applicable Amazon WHS Policies. Measure the regions and sites' performance against published requirements in WHS policies and identify improvement plans for the site to close all identified gaps. Ensure WHS record keeping and data integrity and provides operations with accurate reporting (lead and lag) metrics to support business WHS initiatives. Deliver projects on time to a high standard with operations. Analyse WHS metrics to identify trends to justify the allocation of appropriate resources to areas where the safety risk is highest. Analyse Global Safety Peer Review results and develop and implement solutions to eliminate exposure to these risks and prevent injury at other sites. Ensure site leadership and Associates are trained and knowledgeable of their responsibilities under each policy. Audit the quality, delivery (including qualifications of the trainer), and effectiveness of all required WHS training. Ensure our WHS talent is developed and their thinking is challenged to be constantly at the front of professional practice. Review the effectiveness of deployed WHS tools so they are simplified for use and are adding value. Partner with corporate and other regional field WHS personnel to leverage global WHS best practices into Air network standards. Additional Job Elements include: Lift up to 49 pounds and frequently push, pull, squat, bend, and reach Stand/walk for up to 12 hours during shifts Work in an environment where the noise level varies Work in an environment that is subject to variable temperatures and weather (delivery stations include outside loading departments) Continuously climb and descend stairs (applies to sites with stairs) Maintain effective care delivery in emergencies and assist emergency response at the site Those that do not have an adult First Aid, CPR, AED certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross must obtain within 3 weeks of start date. Basic Qualifications 7+ years of increasingly responsible roles in safety and/or environmental programs within manufacturing, production, service operations, or other relevant experience Experience in safety and/or environmental programs in manufacturing, production, service operations, or related fields Bachelor's degree or above 7+ years of increasing responsibilities in EHS or environmental programs in manufacturing, production, or service operations experience 7+ years of employee and performance management experience Experience implementing lean principles and process improvement in an operational environment Travel up to 50% of the time CPR/First Aid Certification Office within one of the designated region's sites. Must be willing to relocate if not currently within region Willingness to work a variety of shifts, including nights and weekends, as required to support direct reports and site needs. MCSF-BI covers 911 acres on the eastern side of Blount Island, plus an extra 333 acres nearby. This facility is vital for keeping Marine Air-Ground Task Forces ready. MCSF-BI has a deep-water slipway and direct access to the Atlantic, allowing for quick loading and unloading of the largest Maritime Prepositioning Force (MPF) ships. This helps deploy combat vehicles and supplies. Job Summary The Site Safety and Health Officer (SSHO) is a Level 1, mandatory Key Personnel position whose primary duty is to prepare, implement, and enforce the Contractor's safety program, specifically the Accident Prevention Plan (APP), for all work performed at NAVSTA Mayport, MCSF-BI, and outlying areas. The SSHO must be on-site at all times when work is being performed to administer the safety program and accepted APP. This role ensures full compliance with the US Army Corps of Engineers Safety and Health Requirements Manual, EM 385-1-1, and 29 CFR 1926.16 Please note: This position is contingent upon award. Roles and Responsibilities The SSHO is responsible for producing, implementing, and enforcing an Accident Prevention Plan (APP) for assigned program, in accordance with the Company's Safety and Health Program. Attend pre-work meetings and produce job-specific APP and Activity Hazard Analyses (AHAs), in accordance with Company's Safety and Health Program. The SSHO is on-duty when work is being performed, overseeing and managing project construction crews, and ensuring that all personnel are following proper safety rules and regulations. Work as member of the project team, including subcontractors, to ensure implementation and continuous monitoring and enforcement of the provisions of the project EM385-1-1, APP and AHA's. Provide professional support to federal government contracts through health and safety inspection and oversight. Prepare comprehensive reports daily of safety inspections and complete all safety related documentation and paperwork. Coordinate response to on-site emergencies and interface with off-site and on-site emergency response entities. Conduct safety training, including new employee orientations or refresher trainings, and on-the-spot training to all personnel. Work with management team to develop new safety policies, refine existing policies, and modify design requirements and draft construction-related specifications. Ensure that the requirements of 29 CFR 1926.16 are met for Contract requirements. Ensure that they themselves or an equally qualified Designated Representative/alternate shall always be on-site when work is being performed to implement and administer the Contractor's safety program and government-accepted Accident Prevention Plan. Conduct and report mishap investigations and complete required accident reports. Use and maintain OSHA's Form 300 to log work-related injuries and illnesses occurring on the project site for Prime Contractors and subcontractors and make them available to the Contracting Officer upon request. Establish a Safety and Occupational Health (SOH) Deficiency Tracking System that lists and monitors outstanding deficiencies until resolution. Maintain a list of hazardous chemicals on-site and their material Safety Data Sheets (SDS). Maintain a weekly list of high-hazard activities involving energy, equipment, excavation, entry into confined space, and elevation, and be prepared to discuss details during QC Meetings. Provide and keep a record of site safety orientation and indoctrination for Contractor employees, subcontractor employees, and site visitors. Basic Qualifications Fulfill all pre-requisite qualifications, training, and experience as described in EM 385-1-1. Ability to serve as primary SSHO for NAVSTA Mayport and MCSF-BI, with flexibility to act as alternate for sister sites. 5 years of Construction Industry safety experience on similar DOD or BOS projects in supervising or managing general industry or construction programs (managing safety programs, processes or conducting hazard analyses and developing controls).
