osip Simunovic, Ph.D., Co-Founder, Process Innovation, is a Research Associate Professor with the Department of Food, Bioprocessing and Nutrition Sciences at North Carolina State University in Raleigh, NC. Josip has over 20 years of experience in research, development and implementation of novel methods, devices and processes for advanced thermal processing and aseptic packaging of foods and biomaterials. He is working with the company to implement these developments to innovative processing solutions for production of nutritionally superior foods. He is the recipient of the 2008 Food Engineering Award from the American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers, 2009 Institute of Food Technologists Industrial Achievement Award, 2012 Marvin Tung Award from the Institute of Thermal Processing Specialists and the 2012 Innovator of the Year Award from North Carolina State University. Josip received a Bachelor of Science degree in 1978. in Food Technology from Josip Juraj Strossmayer University in Osijek, Croatia; M.S. in Food Science and Human Nutrition from the University of Florida as a Fullbright Scholar in 1984. and a Ph.D. in Food Science in 1998. from North Carolina State University with a dissertation titled “Particle Flow Monitoring in Multiphase Aseptic Systems..
