Job Summary:
Supervises residents and ensures them a safe and secure environment. Activities include processing resident intakes and discharges, supervising recreational activities, teaching proper hygiene and conduct, monitoring resident behavior, intervening in crisis situations and documenting incidents and resident interaction.
Wage: $24.74 per hour to start, no benefits, variable schedule, as needed, up to 19.5 hours per week
Maintains facility security by monitoring residents' activities, observing conduct, behavior and attitude, conducting regular room/bed checks. Investigating incidents and informing appropriate persons of incidents.
Interacts with residents individually and in group setting to discuss personal problems, facility rules and regulations, and to teach proper conduct.
Reacts to crisis situations, such as unruly behavior and fighting, intervening in an appropriate manner. Restrains residents when required for their safety. Evaluates suicidal or AWOL behavior and closely monitors residents exhibiting those tendencies.
Dispenses medication to residents in accordance with the physician approved prescriptions, logs medication, dispenses and ensures medications are secured. Provides basic first aid as necessary. Assesses injuries and illnesses and determined need for medical care in accordance with program guidelines.
Supervises residents to ensure compliance with facility rules. Addresses noncompliant behavior by coaching and teaching approved theory and therapy techniques. Support youth with emotional and social development, encouraging understanding of others and positive self-concepts.
Processes resident intake. Documents all required resident personal information. Conducts personal searches of residents. Logs all resident personal items and stores any items not allowed in the detention center away from residents until they are no longer living at the detention center. Orients new residents and parents to the facility; explaining the philosophy, policies, procedures and program rules.
Education and Experience:
Two years of college (30 semester hours) towards a social science or human services related degree is required OR High School Diploma / GED Equivalent with two years of work experience in a child / adolescent care facility or closely related setting.
Bachelor's degree in a social science or human services field is preferred.
Current unencumbered Michigan Driver's License with no more than one traffic violation in the last 12 months.

Required Education and Experience:

* If full or temporary approval from MDE is not in place a waiver can be submitted to MDE allowing the social worker to enroll in the necessary classes to obtain the SSW-310.
* With the waiver in place, GRPS has agreed to waive the requirements under Article 14, Section J.1.a which requires two years of employment at GRPS before a GREA member is eligible for tuition reimbursement. This waiver only applies to the classes required to obtain the SSW-310 certification.
* Candidates that access tuition reimbursement will also be required to sign an agreement indicating they will remain employed by GRPS for three years after obtaining their SSW 310 certification. Reimbursement will be required if the candidate does not fulfill this requirement.

Licensed Social Worker, School Clinic REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS/SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES Reports to Telemedicine School Clinic Program Manager with no direct reports. Works collaboratively with the Lead Social Worker. Under general supervision and according to Service's standards and policies, prepares social assessments, and functions as the clinics primary mental health provider at the school tele-health clinics. The Licensed Social Worker will act to restore students to optimum social functioning within their capacity. The Social Worker confers with clinic providers, nurses, and works directly with students and families. The Licensed Social Worker performs mental health functions independently within determined scope of practice for the Community Health Center of Branch County, Michigan Mental Health and Public Health Codes. The social worker will conduct crisis and emergency interventions.
ACCOUNTABILITIES

1. Safety Program & Risk Management
* Completes mandatory safety requirements.

* Identifies the person designated as Safety Officer and notifies the Safety Officer and/or Director of real or potential safety hazards as required.

2. Case Management
* Develops a social work treatment plan, utilizing information from patient, family, agency personnel and others appropriate to adolescents.
* Develops and implements an appropriate social work care plan by information gathering, interviewing, and considering various treatment methods.
* Initiates and participates in case conferences.
* Sets priorities for his/her case management.
* Performs efficient therapy as a singular therapist
* Develops specific and timely case closure/after care plans
* Demonstrates knowledge of age-specific developmental factors necessary to provide clinical therapy.
3. Patient Assessment and Treatment
* Demonstrates proficient observational and assessment skills in developing plans and treatments according to social work theories and practices.
* Participates in assigned patient care as assigned and meets established productivity standards.
* Utilizes knowledge of social work processes and skills.
* Provides direct social work services using various modalities including, but not limited to psychotherapy, casework, and crisis intervention.
* Coordinates mental/emotional treatment sources, and advocates on behalf of patients and families.
4. Documentation and Communication
* Completes all necessary paperwork thoroughly, accurately, and promptly, as specified by the Service's operating procedure, also defined by insurers, HIPPA, MDHHS, NASW standards for clinical social work, MI Mental and Public Health Codes, and best practice.
* Completes required documentation for record keeping and reimbursement according to the Service's operating procedures.
* Discusses reimbursement with patients and families when needed. Communication with third party payer to obtain necessary authorizations for mental health services. Works with CHC Billing and revenue team to resolve billing issues.
* Develops and maintains records and reporting system related to the bereavement program.
* Serves as an advocate as appropriate for student/patients and families
5. Teamwork
* Initiates and participates in team interdisciplinary communication.
* Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with patients, families, co-workers, and other professionals
* Exercises independent judgment but utilizes appropriate consultation when indicated.
6. Patient/Family Interaction
* Explains job role and procedure to patient and family (outlines steps, gives reasons and outcomes to be expected, invites clarifying questions, answer questions).
* Actively listens and, if appropriate, legitimizes a patient's or family's response before giving advice, answers, reasons, or opinions.
7. School Wellness Grant
* Maintains a full working knowledge of MDHHS School Wellness Program grant minimum program requirements (MPR).
* Plan, develop, and implementation of mental health programming for clinic site specific approved MDHHS grant work plan.
* Complete and submit on time mental health documentation to satisfy grant's MPRs including work plan, quarterly and yearly reports.
* Based on need, facilitate, and coordinate small groups within the clinic for education.
* Attend and participate in MDHHS trainings and meetings, appropriate for mental health providers.
8. Training and Education
* Provides or assists with in-service education and orientation of new and existing staff, students, and volunteers regarding services available by Licensed Social Worker, School Clinic.
* Demonstrates ability to implement internal and external disaster plans.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education: A Master's degree from an approved school of social work (accredited by the Council of Social Work Education) is required.
Skills:
* Observes and documents according to policies/procedures.
* Communicates effectively and accurately, verbally and in writing.
* Copes with work involving adolescent patients at varying levels of emotional need.
* Reads, speaks, and writes English to fulfill job functions understandably.
* See/hear or use prosthetics that enable them to accomplish essential job functions
