Prior to founding ABT in 2006, Dr. Nutt co-founded CTI Molecular Imaging, Inc. in 1983. He was Vice President of Research and Development from 1983 through 1998 when he became the President of CTI PET Systems, a joint venture between Siemens and CTI. In 2002 he became the President and Chief Executive Officer of CTI Molecular Imaging, Inc. a NASDAQ public company. Dr. Nutt led the negotiations resulting in the sale of CTI to Siemens in 2005. As Vice President of R&D, Dr. Nutt had more than 30 patents in the field of molecular imaging, authored and co-authored a large number of technical publications and has presented invited talks at numerous conferences. Prior to founding CTI Molecular Imaging, Dr. Nutt was the co-founder of several other companies including Technology for Energy Corporation, Radio Systems Corporation and Delta M Corporation. Dr. Nutt was the Vice President of EG&G ORTEC during the time frame of 1969 through 1979 where he was responsible for developing many innovations in the field of nuclear physics instrumentation. Prior to ORTEC he was a researcher at the Oak Ridge National Laboratory and taught Electrical Engineering at the University of Tennessee. Dr. Nutt holds a BS, MS and PhD from the University of Tennessee and was awarded in 1997 the Dean Daugherty award for his outstanding achievements, the highest Engineering Alumni honors. Dr. Nutt is a Fellow of the IEEE and was named by the organization the Outstanding Engineering for the Eastern part of the US in 1999 for his contributions to molecular imaging. He was also awarded the Distinguished Scientist of the Year by the Academy of Molecular Imaging in year 1999.
