Bring your creative vision and design expertise to South Dakota State University! The School of Design invites applications for an Assistant Professor of Interior Design. We are seeking a collaborative educator with a strong foundation in interior design and specialized expertise in one or more content areas such as construction, materials, environmental systems, codes and regulations, or professional practice. The position is typically 60% teaching. 30% research and 10% service. This position is located in Brookings, South Dakota and is a tenure-track, 9-month, full-time, benefits-eligible position.
The School of Design includes accredited degrees in the visual arts: graphic design, and studio arts and the built environment: architecture, interior design and landscape architecture. Collectively, School faculty form a collaborative teaching and research environment that values cross-program and interdisciplinary initiatives. The successful candidate will contribute to building national and international stature and recognition for the discipline, School and University.
SDSU offers a 4-year CIDA and NASAD accredited Bachelor of Fine Arts in Interior Design degree. The mission of Interior Design is to prepare graduates for professional practice or advanced study in interior design through research informed, design thinking infused and practice-based projects and opportunities.
Must be authorized to work in the U.S. Sponsorship is not available for this position.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Teach courses within the professional curriculum, such as design studios, lectures, seminars, and workshops.
* Provide service to the discipline, university, and community.
* Teach in multi-disciplinary courses within the School of Design.
* Conduct a research agenda with dissemination of peer reviewed products.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
* A degree in interior design from an accredited program, plus a PhD in a related field, by time of appointment.

The successful candidate will participate in exploring a potential new program in applied data science or systems analysis. The University of South Dakota Department of Art is seeking a tenure-track Assistant Professor in Photography for a nine-month appointment beginning in August 2026. This position involves teaching film-based photography, alternative photographic processes, and digital photography at both the undergraduate and graduate levels within a dynamic BFA/MFA Art program. The candidate will engage in research, teaching, and service activities according to the guidelines of the South Dakota Board of Regents (SDBOR).
The USD Department of Art teaches photography as a means of artistic expression and has a longstanding strength in alternative and historical photographic processes. The ideal candidate is a practicing artist and educator able to teach both traditional and digital photography. As the sole full-time faculty member in photography, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to lead and shape the direction of both our BFA and MFA programs.
Responsibilities:
● Teach a 3/3 course load.
● Teach all levels of traditional and digital photography courses in a BFA and MFA program.
● Maintain a distinguished program of creative research and scholarship in photography, demonstrated through exhibitions, publications, grants, or other professional activity at the regional, national, and/or international level.
● Develop innovative and inclusive curricula that integrate contemporary and historical approaches to photography.
● Advise and mentor students.
● Contribute to student recruitment and retention for BFA and MFA programs.
● Make meaningful contributions to departmental, college, and university committees/activities.
● Maintain a creative scholarship/research agenda in photography and remain actively engaged in the professional art field.
● Operate and maintain the photography lab, darkrooms, lighting studio, and other related equipment/facilities (digital and analog).
● Work successfully with diverse students, faculty, and staff.
Required Qualifications:
● MFA in photography or a closely related field.
● Demonstrable teaching experience with both film-based and digital photographic practices.
● Record of professional artistic engagement with multiple photographic processes, including both analog and digital.
● Ability to operate and maintain a photography lab, including both film-based and digital equipment.
● Effective written and verbal communication skills.
● Strong interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
● Teaching experience beyond the graduate student teaching assistantships.
● Documented ability to maintain a vibrant visiting artist program in photography.
● Evidence of community engagement and the documented ability to foster connections within and beyond the studio arts.

The Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEE) department at the South Dakota School of Mines & Technology (SD Mines) seeks exceptional candidates for a tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor. An earned doctorate in Environmental Engineering, Civil and Environmental Engineering or a closely related discipline is required. The position has dual focus of teaching and research, and the candidate is expected to be a teacher-scholar. A strong commitment to excellence in teaching both undergraduate and graduate courses is expected, along with contributing to program coordination and leadership, and strengthening the undergraduate and graduate environmental engineering areas of emphasis. The faculty member will be responsible to teach fundamental environmental engineering courses as well as develop other courses related to their area of expertise.
The successful candidate will be expected to develop an externally funded research program. Current CEE faculty have expertise in core environmental engineering, biological and bio-electrochemical processes, climate resiliency, life cycle assessment, surface water hydrology, sustainability, and the intersection of 2D materials, biofilms, and big data. An earned Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related field, is required. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, are required. The successful candidate will be expected to develop an externally funded research program in their area of expertise, teach courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels, and participate in service-related activities. Salary is commensurate with qualifications. The anticipated start term is August 2026.
The Leslie A. Rose Department of Mechanical Engineering takes pride in its excellent educational programs and world-class research activities. The department received the 2023 ASME Zwiep Award for Innovation in Mechanical Engineering Education for its cutting-edge project-based curriculum that is focused on product development and is infused throughout the four years of the curriculum. The College of Arts & Sciences at Dakota State University invites applications for a full-time (9-month) tenure-track Assistant Professor of Mathematics. Our mathematics program offers four specializations: Information Systems, Cryptography, Secondary Education, and Intermediate Education. A significant portion of our mathematics majors pursue double majors in computer science or artificial intelligence, and the majority of our math courses are designed to serve general education requirements and to support various Computer Science programs. The typical workload for this position involves teaching twenty-four credit hours per academic year.
The start date of this position is Fall 2026.
Required Qualifications:
* A Ph.D. in mathematics or a closely related field is required.
* Ability to teach undergraduate students, including a proof-based Introduction to Discrete Mathematics course.
* Willingness to teach online courses.
* Must be authorized to work in the U.S. Sponsorship is not available for this position.
Responsibilities:
* The candidate will be expected to teach a variety of mathematics courses, both face-to-face and on-line, at the general education and upper division levels.
* The candidate will be expected to create engaging online content for online courses, which should include videos and appropriate assessments.

* Active pursuit of grant and funding opportunities.
* Additional duties may include advising students, serving on university committees, assisting with recruitment activities and/or engaging in ongoing assessment.

Job Description: The Division of Teacher Residency and Education of the University of South Dakota's School of Education invites applicants for an Assistant/AssociateProfessor (tenure track) or Assistant/AssociateProfessor of Practice (non-tenure track) of Teacher Education position. This is an on-campus, nine-month position with the possibility of summer teaching. The successful candidate for this position will be expected to teach undergraduate and graduate coursework across the curriculum in teacher education. The successful candidates should also possess knowledge related to face-to-face, online, and other distance learning modalities. Additional assignments may be made based on the professional and academic background of the applicant to complement the strengths of Division faculty and to address the needs of students in programs within the Division of Teacher Residency and Education, School of Education, and university community. Tenure track faculty members are expected to make contributions in teaching, research, and service. All faculty members are expected to mentor students in and out of the classroom. Our teacher education programs are CAEP accredited, and widely respected for training highly competent, well-prepared educators.
Qualifications: Applicants must be able to teach in more than one of the following areas: Early Childhood Education, Mathematics Education, English as a New Language, Educational Technology, and Literacy Education. Preference will be given to those applicants who (a) have at least three years of experience in PK-12 classrooms, (b) have had successful teaching experiences in college/university settings, and have strengths in Early Childhood Education, Mathematics Education, or English Learner Education.
Applicants must possess an earned doctorate from an accredited institution in a Teacher Education discipline (e.g., Elementary Education, Secondary Education, Curriculum & Instruction, English as a New Language, English/Language Arts, Early Childhood Education, Mathematics Education, Educational Technology, Literacy Education, etc.) by August 22, 2026. The successful candidate will teach and conduct research in the following areas: Computer Science, with emphasis in software development, algorithms, data structures, programming languages, and operating systems; and/or Cyber Defense, with primary emphasis in data privacy, and additional knowledge in cybersecurity policy and governance, ethics and legal issues, risk management and security program development, incident response management, security metrics and decision support, wireless security, cryptography, networking, cybersecurity risks and auditing, and Operational Technology (OT) - specifically SCADA systems.
Applicants must clearly indicate their primary area(s) of interest in their cover letter - either Computer Science or Cyber Defense. Academic rank will be at the Assistant or AssociateProfessor level, determined by the candidate's qualifications and experience.

The Division of Teacher Residency & Education invites applications for Adjunct Instructors with expertise in the following areas: Elementary Education, Physical Education, Secondary Education, and Special Education for its pool of part-time adjunct instructors. The Concrete Industry Management (CIM) program in the Department of Construction and Concrete Industry Management (CCIM) at South Dakota State University (SDSU) invites applications for a full-time, 9-month, benefit-eligible instructor beginning August 2025.
This position is ideal for a dedicated and experienced industry professional passionate about teaching and committed to shaping the future of the concrete industry. The Concrete Industry Management (CIM) program at South Dakota State University is one of only five programs of its kind in the country, offering a unique opportunity to educate and mentor the next generation of concrete professionals. The successful candidate will bring expertise in concrete technology, construction management, and industry operations, with a strong understanding of managing people, systems, and product promotion within the concrete sector. This role is supervised by the Department Head of Construction and Concrete Industry Management (CCIM) and provides the opportunity to make a lasting impact through high-quality instruction and industry engagement.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Teach undergraduate courses and/or laboratories in concrete-related disciplines.
* Serve as an undergraduate academic advisor and mentor.
* Mentor undergraduate students and support student competitions.
* Collaborate with industry partners to align the curriculum with current industry needs.
* Contribute to student recruitment, outreach, and retention efforts to strengthen program enrollment and industry engagement.
* Participate in departmental, college, and university committees, supporting SDSU's mission and the CIM program's strategic goals.
SALARY:
The salary for this position is commensurate with qualifications, starting at $70,000. We offer a generous retirement plan that includes 6% matching, 10 hours of annual leave each month, 9.34 hours of sick leave each month, and eleven paid holidays. Relocation benefits are available per university's guidelines.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

* Potential or ability to develop course content and teach at the college level.
* Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
* Graduate degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a closely related field.
* Experience performing concrete test batches in a laboratory setting.
* Experience teaching concrete-related courses at the college level.
* Supervisory or leadership experience.
