South West Yorkshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust CEO and leadership

I joined SWYPFT as Chief Executive from the NHS Confederation in May 2016, when I also became the lead CEO for one of the largest health and care systems in England - the West Yorkshire and Harrogate Health and Care Partnership.

Alongside these roles, I am a visiting professor at the Faculty of Health and Social Sciences at Leeds Beckett University. I am an honorary Fellow at the Queen's Nursing Institute and the Royal College of GPs. I am a member of the NHS Assembly.

In 2020 I was awarded a CBE for my contribution to Healthcare Leadership.

I have worked in healthcare since 1990, taking on national leadership roles in the NHS Confederation as CEO; in the Department of Health as a director on policy, transformation and delivery. I was a director in the Prime Minister's Delivery Unit in the Cabinet Office and in a successful national public/private partnership. I previously spent ten years as a trustee of Leeds Mencap.

I have been an NHS CEO since 2007, successfully leading organisations that have been commissioners and providers of services. During this period, I have chaired formal Cancer, Primary Care and Learning Disability Networks as well as national advisory committees and groups.

I am determined that we thrive in the tough times ahead through the talent that exists in our staff, partners, parents, carers, citizens and patients.

Outside work, I enjoy music, Manchester City, food, literature, being a rubbish runner and a servant to my two children…. I live in Leeds.
