Geriatric Psychiatric RegisteredNurse
We are seeking a compassionate and experienced Geriatric Psychiatric RegisteredNurse to join our dedicated healthcare team. In this role, you will provide specialized mental health care to elderly patients, supporting their emotional and psychological well-being in a respectful and caring environment. Key Responsibilities:
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate mental health care for elderly patients with psychiatric conditions
- Administer medications and monitor for side effects, ensuring safe and effective treatment
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop individualized care plans
- Provide therapeutic support and counseling to patients and their families
- Monitor patient progress and document clinical observations accurately
- Educate patients and families about mental health conditions and treatment options
- Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and safety standards
- Respond promptly to psychiatric emergencies and de-escalate challenging situations
Skills and Qualifications:
- Valid RegisteredNurse (RN) license in the state of practice
- Certification in geriatric or psychiatric nursing preferred
- Proven experience in psychiatric nursing, preferably with elderly populations
- Strong knowledge of mental health disorders common in seniors, such as depression, anxiety, dementia, and schizophrenia
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and observational skills
- Ability to work effectively in a team and handle stressful situations with professionalism
- Compassionate, patient-centered approach to care
- Basic life support (BLS) and advanced cardiac life support (ACLS) certifications are a plus
