St Francis School history

In 1987, the school opened in an old office building and taught students up to the fifth grade.

In 1992, the Kansas State Department of Education initiated the Quality Performance Accreditation (QPA) system.

Growth in enrollment and the addition of a kindergarten prompted the construction of a middle school annex in 1995.

The school was originally set to open in September 1997.

1998 The newly constructed St Elizabeth Ann Seton Middle School opened on donated land near Hammond and 3-Mile Road

On July 1, 2001, the first mass inaugurating Santa Clara de Asis parish was celebrated at the St Francis of Assisi School grounds.

With the No Child Left Behind national education legislation in 2002, all Kansas public schools were required to administer Kansas Assessments to selected students in reading and mathematics each year and in other subject areas in designated years.

The Evansdale property was sold to WVU in 2005.

On March 4-5, 2006 the first Masses were celebrated in their own building, the San Damiano Center.

After our most recent renovation over the summer of 2011, the Laycock Classroom Building is well-equipped to serve all students in 32 classrooms, computer lab, office space, art room, library, kitchen, and cafeteria.

In September 2012, the Board of Trustees of FST announced that the school intended to enter into a service and curricular affiliation with the University of San Diego, San Diego, California.

2016 An outdoor, All School Mass is celebrated on the site of the new Immaculate Conception Elementary School, marking the start of the Our Faith, Our Future, Our Time capital campaign.

On October 4, 2018, the feast of our patron saint, St Francis of Assisi School celebrated twenty years of Catholic education at our tri-parish school.
