Position Description:
Appropriately diagnose mental health and substance-related conditions using the DSM V
Appropriately assess client needs using the American Society of Addiction Medicine Patient Placement Criteria.
Utilize the Therapeutic Community model as the main component of treatment.
Conduct individual, family, and group therapy as assigned.
Develop an effective level of rapport with clients on caseload while maintaining healthy boundaries.
Complete thorough and effective assessments in required time frames, such as funding extension requests.
Coordinate client psychiatric evaluations and other wrap-around services to provide effective care.
Complete treatment planning within a required time frame.
Utilize motivational techniques to retain and support client progress.
Actively utilize the treatment team for clinical support on caseload.
Participate in extracurricular activities with clients.
Connect clients to community resources.
Complete service documentation within the appropriate client management system within 24 hours.
Accurately document services using ASAM Dimensional Analysis format, including all required elements.
Proactively involve and communicate with collateral supports, including family, significant others, probation officers, judges, caseworkers, etc.
Document all incidents immediately and report as required.
Complete accurate and thorough client reports in required time frames, such as court reports.
Other duties as assigned.

Licensure / Education / Prior Experience Required:

First Aid and CPR Certification (will receive at Odyssey House if accepted)
Must comply with annual TB tests and annual Flu and Covid immunizations.

Essential Functions:
Performs waived and automated analytic processes. This includes qualitative, semi-qualitative, or quantitative tests performed automatically by an instrument.
Oversees calibration on self-calibrating instruments and performs select calibration processes.

Students are required to provide DBH with all of the contact information for the practicum advisor at your academic institution so that we can determine if we are able to meet the requirements as both an agency and that our staff are able to meet the requirements and obligations to be a field supervisor.
Classification
Student interns working at DBH for a period longer than 4 weeks are classified as non-exempt employees.
Psychiatry residents are classified as contractors since they are compensated through the academic institutions they are studying at.
Internship and preceptorship placements of 4 weeks or less are classified as volunteers and are not compensated.
Schedule
DBH restricts internship opportunities to Monday through Friday with extremely limited evening hours available due to supervision requirements and availability.
Compensation
All interns placed at DBH are paid, without exception. To prevent unequal practices at DBH, the inability of a student to receive compensation as a student will likely impact the ability to be placed at DBH. The approved rates for student interns at DBH are outlined below:
2nd Year and Advanced Standing MSW Practicum students are paid a $3,750 per semester stipend at the end of each semester.
PMHNP students are compensated at the rate of $18.75 per hour.
1st Year MSW students, BSW students, and all other bachelor-level interns are compensated at the rate of $10.00 per hour.
Required Experience
Students interested in completing their graduate or undergraduate internship/practicum must be enrolled in the social work program at an accredited university. If a field placement agreement is not in place with the academic institution you are enrolled it, this will need to be completed prior to the internship begins.
Davis Behavioral Health utilizes an electronic medical record, which requires proficiency in computer-related skills.
The selected candidate must successfully pass a pre-employment criminal background check and drug screening. DBH will not hire individuals currently using illegal drugs or abusing alcohol; therefore, making employment at DBH conditional upon successfully passing pre-employment drug screening by providing a valid sample. Candidates who are offered employment are required to report for a drug screen at an Intermountain WorkMed location within 24 hours of being requested to do so by the DBH Human Resources Department.

Schedule: Variable Schedule (5 days per week) Sunday through Saturday (need to be available for 2 weekend days a month) Between hours of 5:00 AM - 11:00 PM Primary Purpose: Works with the Donor Collection Specialist Trainer until demonstrated competency is achieved with the following Job Description/Primary Purpose: works in a highly regulated manufacturing environment to collect product and/or modify blood products and components intended for transfusion. Maintains traceability and trackability for all steps in the manufacturing process. Duties include data handling and input, medical history screening and physical examination of donors and patients, collection of whole blood and apheresis products, set-up of mobile drives, manufacturing, and modification of blood products, answering the telephone, performance and documentation of quality control and equipment maintenance, and minor problem-solving.
This position requires you to work variable shifts at different locations (Research Park, Sandy Donor Center, and mobile blood drives.) Essential Functions:
Greets and accurately registers donors.
Obtains and evaluates donor information from allogeneic, autologous, and directed donors.
Accurately interprets donor suitability by performing medical history on donors.
Performs and evaluates limited physical examination of donors according to SOP.
Travels to mobile sites for blood drives and assist Lead Tech in physically setting up and taking down of mobile drive.
Prepares and packages whole blood units properly for shipment to processing.
Collects whole blood units according to Standard Operating Procedures. Maintains complete and accurate documentation of each procedure.
Provides complete donor care including pre and post-donation information, monitoring of donor comfort during the procedure, and donor and care following reactions. Accurately documents all donor reactions.
Provides cardiopulmonary resuscitation and requests emergency care when necessary.
Takes proper action when blood or product storage refrigerators, freezer, or platelet incubator alarms sound.
Performs and documents quality control and equipment maintenance within predetermined parameters.
Complies with safety and biohazard regulation as outlined in the Laboratory Safety Manual.
Answers telephone calls in a timely and courteous manner. Refer problems or issues to appropriate individuals.
Maintains work area. Cleans bench tops, donor chairs, and equipment after each spill, and daily at the end of the work shift. Documents as required.
Obtains supplies from storeroom insuring that oldest stock is used first and proper procedures are followed.
Attends laboratory meetings and in-services as required.
Remains current in all procedures. Completes all competency requirements within stated timeframe.
