Job Description
Provides a clean, healthful and safe environment throughout the campus. Duties include cleaning campus buildings, residence halls, shampooing carpets, stripping/refinishing hard floors. In-campus moves required driving University vehicles. Position requires working flexible hours Monday through Friday, Sunday through Saturday and some weekends and nights.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Dry and wet mop floors, trash out, dust, vacuum carpets including spot cleaning of carpets.
Clean walls, doors and spot mop spills.
Clean and disinfect restrooms, showers, and make rooms ready for conferences and students.
Maintain equipment assigned in clean and operational condition.
Wear assigned uniform in clean and neat condition while at work.
Be courteous to customers and staff.
Follow safe practices and wear safety equipment assigned by the Housekeeping Division.
Works from standard practices and policies reporting to his/her supervisor with questionable cases.
Occasional moving of furniture and work order assignments.
Attends required training and monthly meetings.
Perform vehicle inspections.
Provide support to the University duplicating and mail centers.
Haul trash to the designated disposal site.
Assist with work orders.
Strip and wax hard floors.
Provide in-campus mail pick-up and delivery.
Assist with recycle program
Handles the setting up and breaking down of tables and chairs, etc. for special events on campus as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS:
High School Diploma or GED required;
One (1) year of custodial experience and floor maintenance in an educational or hospitality environment.
Must clear and maintain a favorable background investigation and clearance
Must be able to work evenings and/or weekends as needed
Must have the ability to demonstrate basic computer skills.
Must be proficient in speaking, reading, and writing English; must have ability to read written instructions, warning labels, SDS Sheets in English, etc.
Must possess legible handwriting, possess eyesight in both eyes corrected to 20/20 and normal hearing ability (may be corrected); must successfully pass a PIPIC test for color blindness.
Must be able to successfully handle frustrating conditions such as limits on time and limited access to equipment.
Ability to communicate effectively and display good judgment when providing customer service.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Able to carry 50 pounds up and down stairs
Frequent standing, kneeling/squatting, bending/ stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting

Purpose
To perform custodial maintenance tasks in a team cleaning environment. Perform specialized rotating duties as restroom specialist, utility specialist, light duty specialist and vacuum specialist. Responsibilities
Work in the Lyndon Baines Johnson Presidential Library and Museum performing general cleaning according to schedule, instructions, and team cleaning procedures.
Rotate duties for all team cleaning positions: Vacuum Specialist, Light Duty Specialist, Utility Specialist, and Restroom Specialist.
Perform hard floor care and stripping/refinishing procedures, and carpet cleaning procedures using commercial custodial equipment.
Empty trash/recycling, vacuum with a back-pack vacuum, perform general cleaning tasks, mop, dust, clean and restock restrooms, and change light bulbs.
Secure buildings and rooms on schedule and/or after cleaning. Follow correct unlocking, locking, and alarm procedures. Follow key control/access card procedures. Carry UT ID at all times during working hours.
Adhere to prescribed safety and custodial procedures.
Perform set ups for special events. Provide emergency response and clean up for floods and other custodial emergencies.
Fill in as required for other team members or in other Specialist positions.
Required Qualifications
Six months experience in any of the following fields: custodial, environmental services, hospitality, warehouse, production or facilities maintenance. Experience following basic work instructions.
Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

The Building Attendant II performs moderately complex custodial work which involves cleaning and caring for buildings and maintaining custodial equipment and requesting supplies. Provides guidance to the Building Attendant I staff and may provide training to others.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
Perform general custodial functions such as sweeping, mopping, dusting and vacuuming and scrubs tile work, floors, stairways, hallways, shower rooms, locker rooms and building lobbies. Waxes and polishes floors, washes windows. Cleans and dust furniture and other office equipment. Perform rest room maintenance by applying cleaning chemicals appropriately and replenishing supplies. Clean, dust and disinfects areas such as rest rooms, classrooms and other areas. Key Management and provides guidance to Building Attendant I staff. Dispose of trash and recyclable materials. Operate custodial maintenance equipment including vacuums, buffers/burnisher, auto-scrubbers, KaiVac's and extractors. Assures energy conservation by ensuring all non-necessary lights are turned off (classrooms, offices, etc.). Inspect buildings for cleanliness, needed repairs and completed work orders. Makes an identification of all problems requiring a work order for correction, such as (light bulb replacement, lock adjustment, carpet repair, broken glass, holes in walls, ceiling tile replacement, tripping hazards, termites, etc.). Assists in maintaining inventory of custodial equipment materials, supplies and equipment. Drives a UTA vehicle. Considered essential personnel. Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or GED . This position requires a Texas class āCā operator's driver's license and three (3) years of acceptable driving history. Effectively execute oral and written instruction in English.
Preferred Qualifications
Six (6) months of supervisory experience. Six (6) months or more of experience in custodial and maintenance work.
Work Schedule
Monday - Friday; 8:00am - 4:30pm.
