    The Division of Child Neurology in the Department of Neurology at Stanford University seeks a board-certified child neurologist with expertise in fetal/neonatal neurology to join the Department as a Clinical Assistant Professor in the **Clinician Educator Line** . Fellowship training in fetal/ neonatal neurology or robust clinical experience leading to neonatal neurocritical care board certification or eligibility is desired. In addition to seeing outpatient fetal consult, and neonates in the intensive care unit, newborn nursery, and outpatient setting, candidates need also be able to see a wide variety of pediatric neurologic conditions in children of all ages in both outpatient and inpatient settings, as well as a demonstrated commitment to teaching students, residents and fellows. Candidates must also have excellent communication skills and an ability to work collaboratively with other departments and disciplines. Responsibilities are expected to include care of fetal/neonatal/general neurology patients, and teaching of medical students, residents and clinical fellows. The physician will see patients primarily in our children's hospital and outpatient clinics (both main campus site in Palo Alto, as well as satellite clinic sites). The successful applicant must have a medical degree (MD) or equivalent. Candidates should have clinical training in Pediatrics and Pediatric Cardiology (completed fellowship and be board eligible/certified). Advanced clinical training in cardiac imaging is required. Five to seven years of post-fellowship experience is preferred. They will have demonstrated outstanding clinical abilities in non-invasive cardiac imaging of pediatric and adult patients with congenital heart disease. They will serve as an attending physician in the Echocardiography Laboratory at Lucile Packard Children's Hospital Stanford (LPCHS). They will also provide fetal and postnatal echocardiography services at affiliated clinical sites in the San Francisco Bay Area, as the program has a strong outreach presence. In addition, you will have the opportunity to serve as an attending on our Acute Cardiac Care Unit alongside our team of general cardiologists and heart failure/transplant attendings, providing primary inpatient service coverage caring for patients on a 26 bed unit with plans to expand to 32 beds. The Echocardiography Laboratory at LPCHS has twelve faculty members who together are responsible for the performance and interpretation of approximately 12,000 pediatric echocardiograms (transthoracic, transesophageal, and fetal) annually both on the Stanford campus and at affiliated clinical sites in the Bay Area. In addition to training categorical fellows in the Division of Pediatric Cardiology, laboratory-based faculty members also provide advanced clinical and clinical research training to one or two senior non-invasive cardiac imaging fellows annually. All the faculty actively engage in clinical research, quality improvement projects, digital health, and curriculum development. Academic rank and line will be determined by the qualifications and experience of the successful candidate. Primary responsibilities include attending on our primary neurology ward and consult teams. On our wards service, we see a wide variety of patients including those with seizures, acute neuromuscular emergencies, infectious and immune meningoencephalitis, demyelinating disease, rapidly progressive dementia, and headache disorders. We also care for patients electively admitted for clinical trial treatments, including genetic and CAR T therapy. On the consult service, we see patients with neurologic complications of systemic disease, including cancer and cancer treatments, CAR T therapy, and transplant neurology. Faculty may be asked to be involved in a post-discharge clinic and/or telemedicine to satellite hospitals. The faculty member will be expected to teach and mentor trainees at all levels, including but not limited to medical students, residents, and our Neurohospitalist fellow(s). Faculty will have the opportunity to work with our fantastic multidisciplinary care team and help coordinate safe transitions of care. There are ample professional development opportunities in medical education, quality improvement and care innovation and research for faculty in this position. QUALIFICATIONS: The successful applicant should have expertise in the evaluation and management of the breadth of acute neurological diseases (e.g. seizures, acute neuromuscular emergencies, infectious and immune meningoencephalitis, demyelinating disease, rapidly progressive dementia, headache disorders, CAR T therapy, emergent neurologic complications of cancer and its treatments, neurologic complications of systemic disease, encephalopathy & delirium, etc) and a demonstrated commitment to teaching students, residents and fellows. Candidates must also have excellent communication skills and an ability to work collaboratively with other departments and disciplines. Necessary qualifications include ABPN certification or eligibility and eligibility for a California medical license. Fellowship training as a neurohospitalist is highly desirable, although other subspecialty fellowship experience will also be considered provided the candidate has sufficient experience in an acute care neurology. Note, since we have a separate stroke service, there is no requirement to care for patients with acute stroke. The Echocardiography Laboratory at LPCHS has twelve faculty members who together are responsible for the performance and interpretation of approximately 12,000 pediatric echocardiograms (transthoracic, transesophageal, and fetal) annually both on the Stanford campus and at affiliated clinical sites in the Bay Area. In addition to training categorical fellows in the Division of Pediatric Cardiology, laboratory-based faculty members also provide advanced clinical and clinical research training to one or two senior non-invasive cardiac imaging fellows annually. The LCSW social worker also provide supervision for graduate master level students as assigned and supervision of MSW employees requiring supervision for all clinical activities. Provides psychosocial services in individual, family, and group formats. Essential Duties: Psychosocial Assessment - to be completed in a timely manner, using theoretical knowledge of human behavior, psychosocial factors having an impact on treatment outcome and an understanding of potential ethical/risk issues. Clinical intervention - to include supportive counseling with patients and families, linkage and referral to community agencies and services, facilitating family conferences, helping families to cope with difficult decisions, i.e. hospice, DNR, placement. Assist families with communicating their concerns to the patient's physicians. Work collaboratively with Case Managers on discharge planning issues. Provide group facilitation and program development. Triage/ Management of clinical caseload - demonstrate the ability to identify high risk situations, effectively manage caseload, and balance referrals, high risk admissions and ongoing patient care, requesting assistance from colleagues or manager as needed. Legal and ethical standards - to be incorporated into all clinical assessments and interventions, i.e. suspected abuse or neglect, Tarasoff duty to warn, conservatorship, patient rights. Employee must adhere to all Tenet Policies, Procedure and Practices in the area of Social Services. Documentation - to be completed per policy i.e. Interdisciplinary Plan of Care, Education Form, Advance Health Care Directive follow up form and Social Services Progress Notes In service - given to other hospital staff regarding the psychosocial issues of patient care. i.e. Lunch and Learns Social Service reports- to be provided in a timely manner, i.e. PAS numbers, Case assignment by SW, Absence Approval requests, etc. Quality Improvement - participates in the development, monitoring and analysis of process and outcome indicators for the improvement of patient care Maintains competencies for hospital, age specific and job specific standards of care Other duties as assigned this can include Social Work Month activities, cancer specific support groups and educational programs for patients families, staff and volunteers Performs other duties as assigned. Required Qualifications: Req Master's degree Social Work from an accredited graduate school of social work. Req 2 years Experience in a medical setting. Req Ability to communicate effectively in English both verbally and in writing. Req Demonstrate excellent customer service behavior. Req Excellent analytical, problem-solving, planning and evaluation skills. Req Demonstrates ability to effectively work with physicians, staff, and patients. Req Able to function independently and as a member of a team. Req Demonstrates excellent verbal and written communication skills. Req Committed to excellence in patient care and customer service. Preferred Qualifications: Pref 1 year Experience within a transplant setting. Required Licenses/Certifications: Req Licensed Clinical Social Worker - LCSW (CA DCA) Req Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider from American Heart Association Req Fire Life Safety Training (LA City) If no card upon hire, one must be obtained within 30 days of hire and maintained by renewal before expiration date. (Required within LA City only) The annual base salary range for this position is $95,680.00 - $158.230.00.
