As a Process Engineer your role is to focus on the planning, design, operation, control, optimization, and intensification of chemical, physical/mechanical, and biological processes for complex water/wastewater treatment facilities and pumping stations. They develop and modify process formulations, methods, and controls to meet quality standards and recommend and implement improvements, modifications, or additions to document work. A Process Engineer approves and prepares proposals and cost estimates and evaluates all project progress and recommends changes. Represents project work in client meetings and continues to cultivate relationships with client organizations. May provide work leadership and training to more junior professional and technical staff and provides technical guidance to less experienced professionals or technicians assigned to work on a common project. Intermittently, investigates and advises on unusual and difficult problems encountered in the process engineering practice. Uses and applies advanced engineering principles and has a working knowledge of advanced technical research. Plans, conducts and coordinates engineering assignments, involving several smaller and some higher revenue projects, of varying complexity. Project types will be planning, design, and construction phase services for water and wastewater treatment, odor and corrosion control, and nutrient recovery. Your Key Responsibilities As part of the Delivery Center team, the mechanical EIT is responsible for working on projects ranging in size and complexity through all phases of a project lifecycle. You will have diverse exposure to projects within the E&R Business Operating Unit, which includes Mining, Materials, and Metals, and sectors in Energy. You will interact with frontline BC staff regularly and are comfortable supporting a wide variety of projects. Continuous improvement and innovation are important to you, as well as streamlining deliverable production and enhancing Stantec's library of standardized calculation templates and documents. Essential Functions - Perform engineering and design tasks on assigned projects under supervision, including engineering drawings, calculations, engineering reports, and presentations. - Learn and apply appropriate codes and standards to projects and designs, including piping and pressure vessel codes, material standards, and various static and rotating equipment codes and standards. - Collaborate with stakeholders in project requirement meetings, coordination meetings with internal and/or external consultants, owner and contractor, sub-contractors, and vendors in preparation and coordination of project specifications. - Manage the quality of project deliverables using Stantec's quality control guidelines. - Aid in equipment selection, creation of data sheets, and material requisitions. - Perform hydraulic and pipe stress analysis calculations. - Integrate continuous improvement concepts and techniques into all aspects of the job. - Contribute to the development of standardized calculation or design templates. - Contribute to Design Basis Memorandums (DBMs). - Create implementation instructions and scopes of work for construction work packages. - Create pre-commissioning or commissioning procedures. - Aid in creation of project and/or material specifications. - Engages in the development of a design through sketches, electronic models, diagrams, and other visual formats. - Prepares and revises documentation in various mechanical phases. - Participate in client/vendor/contractor meetings potentially including HAZOP, 3D model reviews and design reviews. - Conducts quality assurance and quality control on own projects. - Produce piping specifications and hydrotest procedures. - Participate in constructability reviews. - Manage and execute mechanical engineering deliverables on multiple projects in a dynamic work environment. - Become a champion of Stantec's HSSE program. Prepare progress reports and draft change orders; * Perform and manage multiple projects and tasks within specific budgets, schedules, and deadlines.
