As a Process Engineer your role is to focus on the planning, design, operation, control, optimization, and intensification of chemical, physical/mechanical, and biological processes for complex water/wastewater treatment facilities and pumping stations. A Process Engineer approves and prepares proposals and cost estimates and evaluates all project progress and recommends changes. May provide work leadership and training to more junior professional and technical staff and provides technical guidance to less experienced professionals or technicians assigned to work on a common project. Intermittently, investigates and advises on unusual and difficult problems encountered in the process engineering practice. Plans, conducts and coordinates engineering assignments, involving several smaller and some higher revenue projects, of varying complexity.
Project types will be planning, design, and construction phase services for water and wastewater treatment, odor and corrosion control, and nutrient recovery.
Your Key Responsibilities
- Perform more advanced engineering planning and design tasks on assigned projects under minimal supervision, including engineering drawings, engineering reports, presentations, and required applications to regulatory and/or funding agencies.

**Job Description**
The Environmental Business Line of AECOM is seeking a Hazardous Building Material/Industrial Hygiene Project Manager for immediate employment with the Northeast department of the EHS & Air Practice. This candidate is expected to report to the Boston, MA, Chelmsford, MA, or Manchester, NH office.
The appropriately qualified applicant will be able to demonstrate at least 8 years of experience performing and managing building hazardous material (asbestos, lead paint, etc.) surveys, abatement oversight, and design and/or industrial hygiene projects. This is anticipated to be a seller/doer role, combining technical project execution with business development. On the business development side, responsibilities will include identifying and pursuing new business opportunities, developing client relationships, and securing contracts (both internally and externally). This dual role requires a balance of technical expertise, project management skills, and business acumen to successfully grow the business while delivering exceptional service to clients.
The job responsibilities for this position will include but are not limited to:
+ Managing and/or self-performing a wide range of hazardous building material and industrial hygiene projects for both private and public-sector clients
+ Collaborating with other licensed/certified professionals and technical/regulatory specialists on hazardous building material and industrial hygiene projects. These projects are expected to include survey and investigation work, abatement/remediation design, and abatement/remediation.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to work on integrated design services for both public and private sector clients at sites located throughout the United States and abroad. Our current project list includes a diverse portfolio of urban revitalization and streetscape, retail and commercial projects, school and university design, healthcare clients, smart growth planning, community design, rooftop and courtyard projects, and brownfield redevelopment assignments.
Job Responsibilities
* Assist with the planning, design and permitting of landscape architecture, civil engineering, land development and infrastructure projects using design, engineering and graphic software (AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Sketch Up, Photoshop, Illustrator) and equipment to prepare landscape architecture and design documents;
* Perform zoning, ordinance and permit assessments, and assist with determining the feasibility of projects based on the analysis of collected data;
* Assist with the preparation and modification of various design and engineering documents including reports, specifications, plans, construction schedules, cost estimates and design plans for projects;
* Assess soil composition, terrain, hydrological characteristics, and topographical and geologic data and their impact on the planning and design of projects using reports, maps, drawings, design and engineering plans, tests, and aerial photographs;
* Provide field inspection services, as needed; and
* Perform other duties as requested.
Qualifications
* Bachelor's or Master's degree in Landscape Architecture;
* 0-3 years of work related experience;
* Demonstrated passion for design excellence and the challenges of creating inspiring places in urban environments;
* Individual must be highly creative and possess exceptional computer skills in Adobe Suite, Sketchup, and AutoCAD;
* Strong interpersonal, organizational, verbal and written communication skills;
* Demonstrated ability to follow direction and work in a team environment; and
* Possess reliable transportation to access job sites and a valid driver's license in good standing.

Your Opportunity
As a Mechanical Engineer, your role in our professional consulting services team is to work independently on multidisciplinary projects of various complexity as a discipline leader, through all phases of a project lifecycle. You are responsible for leading the design of HVAC, Plumbing, and Fire Protection systems on municipal water treatment plants, pumping stations, wastewater treatment plants, hydroelectric power plants, and private industrial water applications in different locations across North America. Every project has its own unique challenges, and you are considered a resource for solutions to those challenges.
Your Key Responsibilities
* Lead the design of HVAC, Plumbing, and Fire Protection systems for various projects from preliminary design through bid and construction phases.
* Develop basis of design reports (BODR) and technical memorandums for small-to- medium size projects, setting criteria for following design stages.
* Develop design documents including drawings, specifications, and opinion of probable construction costs (OPCC).
* Respond to RFIs, review submittals and shop drawings, and attend construction site visits for design compliance.
* Develop HVAC calculations including building cooling and heating load calculations, air distribution system sizing, and hydronic distribution system sizing.
* Develop Plumbing calculations including domestic water, sanitary waste, and storm water systems sizing.
* Apply design codes and standards based on the project needs.
* Coordinate design with other design disciplines throughout the life of a project.
* Assist with mentoring engineers in training (EIT) to develop and strengthen their skills and technical abilities.
* Travel to job sites in your state of residence and other states (5%)
Your Capabilities and Credentials
* In-depth understanding of HVAC engineering fundamentals such as psychrometric chart, refrigeration cycle and heat transfer.
* Experience in designing HVAC and Plumbing systems. Fire Protection design is a plus.
* Strong familiarity with design codes and standards of practice.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills.
* Strong understanding of all phases of project deliverables.
* Ability to lead one or more projects simultaneously.
* Experience with HVAC load calculation software - HAP or Trace.
* Strong knowledge of AutoCAD and Revit.
Preferred Qualifications
* Experience in designing HVAC, Plumbing, and Fire Protection systems for water treatment plants, wastewater treatment plants, pumping stations, chemical storage rooms, and hydroelectric power plants.
* Familiarity with NFPA 820 requirements for HVAC systems serving wastewater treatment plants.
