Respond to inquiries from other sections in the agency, other agencies or clients to ensure uniform policy implementation. Inform supervisor of any potential problems or any unusual situations that may occur during the conversion project. Assist the manager in drafting management and/or programmatic procedures that may include manuals and policy recommendations. Maintain current FVI caseload. Continue support officer 2 duties as assigned and assists current unit with case coverage. Evaluate employee's performance and implements or recommends discipline if needed. Attend staff trainings, attend staff meetings and meetings regarding the case file conversion process and any federal and state trainings as assigned. Maintain regular and predictable attendance. Mail is the primary means of personal communication with those on the outside and it is received and delivered on an irregular basis. Personal phone use will not be available once you're in backcountry locations. Incumbent will be exposed to the following adverse environmental conditions: rain, snow, extreme heat (90+ degrees Fahrenheit), extreme cold (below freezing), dry weather, lightning, high amounts of dust, camp and forest fire smoke, elevations ranging from 2000-14,000ft. Work is extremely physically demanding and requires daily hiking that ranges from 3-20 miles in one day over rugged, steep, uneven terrain while carrying 40-60lbs in your backpack at a minimum pace of 3mph. Summary of Job Duties: Organizes, coordinates and directs agency environmental programs in assigned geographic area; evaluates procedures to ensure compliance with department quality assurance and federal, state and local codes and regulations; (e.g., NESHAP, asbestos, new source review, facility inspections); develops strategic direction, goals, plans and policies for specialized regulatory programs.
