This is a full-time role, Monday-Friday, 7am-3:30pm. Successful performance and attendance during the initial 90 days will transition into a permanent position. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Mechanical assembly of devices requiring precision alignments and metrology
Soldering of small gauge wires (28-36 gauge)
Using a microscope for precision alignments and soldering of small devices
Interpreting mechanical and technical product drawings and documentation
Ability to use standard office applications (Word, Excel, Email)
Skills and Requirements
Ability to complete complex mechanical assembly tasks and precision metrology measurements
Moderate soldering experience, J-STD-001 preferred
Familiarity with precision mechanical alignments, tools and techniques
Can use multi-meters, wire strippers, and standard assembly and metrology tools
Ability to complete assembly and metrology records for regulatory and QC requirements
Use 5S and Lean principles in an ISO 9001 manufacturing environment
Strong communication and organizational skills
Ability to multi-task and prioritize work
Education
High school diploma or equivalent required
Associate degree or technical certificate in a related field preferred

Responsibilities
Mechanical assembly and testing of machinery and devices requiring precision alignments and measurements, in accordance with 2D and 3D assembly drawings and written procedures
Diagnose and repair problems with product returned from the field
Propose and implement process and equipment improvements to reduce cost, increase efficiency and improve safety conditions
Support production activities as required to achieve the goals of the entire department
Mentor other technicians in the areas of assembly, troubleshooting, and testing products
Report failures and defects via company quality processes
Cooperate with others in a team effort to achieve quality, safety and productivity goals
Collaborate with Advanced Manufacturing Engineering on fixture development, process improvements, corrective actions, and any other measures needed to drive continuous improvement within the group
Follow 5S and lean manufacturing principles and practices in an ISO 9001 manufacturing environment

High school diploma or GED is required, Associate's Degree or certificate in a technical discipline in electronics, mechanical, or related technologies is preferred

Job Description:
This position is for an Electro-Mechanical technician in the Custom Products Group. The role will support both the ESG In-lined and ESG Automation groups. The ESG In-lined group is responsible for delivering application and customer specific solutions ranging from a simple adapter to a full custom test machine. The ESG Automation group is responsible for designing and building automated solutions on top of existing Instron equipment.
The candidate will build, test, and debug custom electromechanical materials testing systems and accessories. They will work from a variety of complex blueprints, diagrams, and verbal instructions to complete these assemblies. They candidate will also suggest design changes, trains other employees and provides technical leadership during assembly of electromechanical products.
Principal Duties & Responsibilities:
Reads and interprets complex blueprints, drawings, and electrical schematics to facilitate assembly and testing of custom products
May be required to modify components using common hand and power tools and identify non-conforming material
Assists in employee training, provides hands-on technical support in production, and interfaces with both Manufacturing and Design Engineering.

Position Summary
The Mechanical Technician - Suppression will be responsible for functional and development testing of fire suppression systems and assist Mechanical and Fire Protection Engineers with test setup, test execution and documentation. Performs research and engineering laboratory functions involving the layout, building, testing, troubleshooting, repairing and modification of fire suppression systems and the associated auxiliary equipment. Strong emphasis on supporting product testing including system discharge tests, fire extinguishing tests and mechanical hardware tests. Majority of activity is in collaboration with engineers and other technicians across a broad range of projects. Support of some testing will be required in an outdoor environment at our test facility in Holliston, MA.
Specific responsibilities for this position include:
Work under limited supervision to provide technical support and task ownership to Suppression engineers on a variety of engineering tasks.
Set-up of fire test configurations, associated fire suppression equipment and installation of piping networks.
Fill and pressurize test cylinders; Recondition cylinders and valves. This work periodically requires moving and lifting components in excess of 50 lbs. with the proper equipment and procedures.
Conduct discharge tests and fire tests.
Maintain equipment and tools in safe operating condition and support timely calibration tracking.
Collaborate with colleagues to maintain and manage inventory of key suppression equipment and assemblies
Interface with Machine Shop, Facilities, and EH&S Dept's to support Engineering initiatives.
Instrumentation preparation and troubleshooting.
Actively participate in, and maintain strict compliance to, all company Policies and Procedures.

Required Experience:
AA/AS degree (or other 2-year post high school training) or 3-5 years of relevant mechanical/industry work experience.
Hands-on experience with pressurized equipment
Proficient in use and operation of mechanical lab/shop tools/equipment

Your Contribution
* Provide for corrective, preventative, predictive, safety and emergency repairs to electrical machinery and electronic equipment utilized in LNS's manufacturing processes.
* Ability to troubleshoot facility wiring, electronic controls, including servo/stepper motor controls, process equipment and general mechanical equipment.
* Completes accurate records via an Enterprise Asset Management (EAM)
* Troubleshoot machine and system failures on a timely basis in a production environment; provide appropriate corrective actions.
* Use schematics, blueprints & diagrams to find the sequence of operations to aid in effective troubleshooting of electronic hardware, vacuum systems, hydraulic systems, basic mechanical systems, and pneumatic systems.
* Calibrate electronic controllers and maintain accurate records.
* Provides project support on internal projects.
* Assist Engineering personnel in conducting process and project evaluation and problem solving, must work in a team environment.
* Assist in building and grounds maintenance when needed.
* Moves, assembles, installs, adjusts, repairs and services all standard production machinery and equipment.
* Works overtime as required and responds to emergency call-ins.
Your Profile
* High School Diploma or equivalent.
* Minimum two (2) years' electromechanical training and PLC knowledge for troubleshooting and repair for production equipment.
* Four (4) years' experience in mechanical, electrical repair, and PLC troubleshooting and repair for production equipment.
* Ability to read schematics, blueprints and diagrams.
* Must be able to read, write, and speak English.
* Effective verbal and written communication skills.
* Computer proficiency and experience using Microsoft Office software.
* Self-motivated and results oriented.
* Ability to work in a team oriented environment.
* Good manual dexterity and hand/eye coordination.
* Due to the nature of work performed at this facility, US Person status may be required.
