Under general supervision, performs a variety of general secretarial, clerical, and administrative support functions/processes or a few specialized or essential clerical functions in support of a unit or office and related personnel. May enter data and/or process documents and records. The work includes operating standard office equipment. Work is performed under the general supervision of a clerical or administrative supervisor. * Completes tasks and assignments associated with administrative support functions (i.e., licensure, personnel, purchasing, records management, inventory, or similar function) * Provides clerical support such as incidental typing, filing, ordering supplies, and sorting mail * Provides clerical support within assigned functional area (ie processing/transactions, review of applications, scheduling training, scheduling facilities maintenance, reconciling financial records, assessing/collecting fees for a program, generating rep * Provides general clerical support to an office, to include such tasks as data entry/maintenance, copying/distributing documents and materials, maintaining record- keeping and filing systems, etc. * Provides secretarial and administrative support to an upper-level manager * Use independent judgment and initiative to perform administrative, clerical and secretarial duties in support of an individual employee or group of employee Preferred Qualifications: Completion of college-level coursework (e.g., an associate's degree or certificate) in Office Administration, Business, or a related field. One or more years of strong written and verbal communication skills experience, including drafting professional correspondence or internal memos. At least one year at the lower level, Admin Support 1, to include specific experience in a relevant area.     Savannah Technical College is seeking a full-time Administrative Assistant for the Business and Technology Division. The Administrative Assistant assists the Dean and faculty in the Business and Technology Division by performing advanced and diversified secretarial/clerical duties requiring broad and comprehensive experience, skill and knowledge of organization policies and procedures in support of the division. Other duties involve completing administrative tasks and special projects as requested not limited to the areas of personnel, budgeting and management of records. In addition, the Administrative Assistant may provide assistance in purchasing and accounting tasks and may be cross trained in various assignments related to the operation of the Business and Technology Division. Preferred Qualifications Preference will be given to applicants who have a bachelor's degree; experience working with accounting, budgets and/ or purchasing; work experience in an educational or business setting; experience in using the Banner student records management system; excellent customer service, clerical, and technological skills, including performing advanced level administrative support; excellent knowledge and experience in the use of the Internet, Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel; excellent written and verbal communications skills. Physical Demands Work is typically performed in an office environment with intermittent sitting, standing, walking, bending, pushing, or pulling in various settings. The employee occasionally lifts or moves objects of a light to medium weight up to 50 pounds. Full range of hand and finger motion may be utilized for data entry purposes.
