    Lanier Technical College (******************* is conducting a search for the following part-time, non-benefits eligible, FLSA non-exempt position. POSITION: PART-TIME CAMPUS POLICE OFFICER REPORTS TO: Chief of Police RESPONSIBILITIES: Performs a full-range of assigned law enforcement duties to maintain security and order on the assigned campuses of Lanier Technical College, including Adult Education facilities. MAJOR DUTIES: * Responds to calls for service; * Responds to medical emergencies as a First Responder; * Guards and monitors buildings. Answers alarms and investigates disturbances. Investigates criminal complaints, vehicle, and other accidents; * Coordinates with State Patrol and adjacent law enforcement jurisdictions. Apprehends criminal suspects and turns over to local jurisdiction for booking or incarceration; * Inspects assigned area for fire or environmental hazards as part of normal security patrol; * Monitors and authorizes entrance and departure of employees, visitors, and other persons to guard against and maintain security of premises; * Patrols premises to prevent and detect signs of intrusion and ensure security of doors, windows, and gates; * Responds to fires, natural disasters, or other hazardous events as a First Responder; * Warns persons of rule infractions or violations, and apprehends or evicts violators from premises, using force if necessary; * Writes reports of daily activities and irregularities; * In conjunction with other federal, state, and local agencies, will coordinate disaster response or crisis management activities, such as opening shelters, special needs programs, and evacuation; * As part of normal security patrol, inspects equipment and facilities to determine their operational and functional capabilities; * Collaborates with others to prepare and analyze damage assessments following emergencies; * Escorts or drives motor vehicle to transport individuals to specified locations and to provide personal protection; * Directs traffic and provides security for events; * Maintains Peace Officer Standards Training certification; * Transports College funds and deposits; * Locks and unlocks facilities; * Assist students with vehicle jump starts and lockouts; * Enforces parking rules and regulation, and issues parking citations; * Conducts investigations and follows up on campus-related activities. * Other work-related duties as assigned by Supervisor MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma or GED AND current P.O.S.T. certification is required. Valid Georgia driver's license. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (in addition to minimum qualifications & competencies): * Criminal investigation experience; * Crime scene technician experience; * Prior police experience in a post-secondary environment * FTO certified; * Clery Act reporting experience; * Experience in writing policies and procedures. COMPETENCIES: * Effective written and oral communication skills; * Effective decision making and problem solving skills; * Skill in the operation of computers and job related software programs; * Skill in interpersonal relations and in dealing with the public; * Ability to work independently with minimal supervision; * Ability to work at any LTC campus; * Ability to work weekends, day, evening and morning shifts; * Ability to differentiate between colors; * Ability to complete reports according to established guidelines; * Ability to patrol assigned areas; * Ability to identify signs of unlawful entry; * Ability to obtain annual mandatory 20 hours of training for P.O.S.T. certification; * Ability to pass annual firearms and use of deadly force training; * Knowledge of all pertinent federal, state, and local laws, ordinances and regulations of College/TCSG policies and procedures, and CLERY Act requirements; Note: No phone inquiries please. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Campus Safety & Patrol * Conduct routine foot and vehicle patrols of all campus properties to ensure the security of buildings, grounds, and college assets. * Monitor campus activity, deter criminal behavior, and respond to suspicious persons, incidents, or safety concerns. * Lock and unlock buildings as required and monitor facilities using surveillance systems. * Enforce campus regulations, traffic and parking rules, and state laws, including investigating vehicle accidents occurring on private property. Emergency Response * Respond promptly to all calls for service, including medical emergencies, disturbances, alarms, and criminal incidents. * Provide first aid and CPR as necessary and coordinate with emergency medical services, fire personnel, or external law enforcement agencies. * Maintain clear and continuous communication with dispatch and other officers during emergencies.
