The Technical Support Specialist is responsible for providing Level II technical hardware and software support. They will facilitate and resolve a wide variety of requests, inquiries and complaints with the use of their extensive technical knowledge of hardware and software. The Technical Support Specialist will work independently and as part of a team.
Duties and Responsibilities
Assists users to resolve computer related problems such as inoperative hardware or software, including network connections. Resolve customer inquiries efficiently and effectively through the use of active listening and personalizing techniques with a constant focus on service excellence.
Hardware Support functions include, but are not limited to, end user support, desktop support, laptop support, visiting office setups, and mobile device support. Perform computer imaging and post image configurations, preventative maintenance, and basic printer troubleshooting working with the vendor on repairs.
Software support functions include, but are not limited to, troubleshooting of applications that are standard within Sidley's environment, installation and configuration of software, updates and preventative maintenance, and support of third party applications in coordination with vendors.
Manage the assets that are both deployed and in inventory, maintain accurate Asset records for each user and each piece of equipment. Coordinate and perform Hardware moves, changes and exchanges.
Provide break/fix support for telephones, including handsets, telephone cords and telephone base-units.
Assist with projects such hardware or software upgrades, office moves and special events.
Manage and process Hardware warranty claims and issues, and facilitate warranty repairs with third party vendors.
Document and maintain user request and incident records in IT Service Management System.
Perform other duties as required.

This position is remote, with work primarily conducted over Zoom and Slack, so applicants must be comfortable coordinating in a remote environment and are expected to maintain a high level of communication. The Software Development Intern must commit to the Fall and Spring semesters (ending April 30, 2025). However, many people choose to extend their internship past the amount of time they initially committed to, provided their performance meets the required standards.

Responsibilities:
Contribute to building and maintaining a website from scratch using frameworks.
Connect and maintain a database to the website.
Implement new features according to incoming design and functional requirements.
Document the code base and general structure of the overall product.
Write high quality applications that can achieve massive scale.
Document user requirements, create design documents, develop self-documented code, conduct testing, and create user and system documents.
Communicate effectively with the team leads, Director of Technology, and COO as needed.
Qualifications
Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field
Proficiency in at least one programming language (e.g., Java, Python, C++, or JavaScript)
Familiarity with version control systems, preferably Git
Basic understanding of software development methodologies
Strong problem-solving skills and analytical thinking abilities
Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
Ability to work efficiently in a team environment
Eagerness to learn and adapt to new technologies
Demonstrated passion for software development through personal or academic projects
Strong written and verbal communication skills

What You'll Do as a Software Engineering Co-op
Develop and maintain software applications using languages such as C, C++, or Python.
Assist in designing, coding, testing, and debugging software components for medical devices, tools, and fixtures.
Collaborate with engineers to integrate software with hardware components and ensure system functionality.
Participate in code reviews and contribute to improving software quality and maintainability.
Create and update technical documentation, including design specifications and user guides.
Support verification and validation activities, including unit testing and integration testing.
The Experience, Skills and Abilities Needed
Student pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field. Sophomore year requirements must be completed by co-op start date.
Basic experience in programming languages (C, C++, Python).
Familiarity with version control systems (Git or equivalent).
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, etc.).

Ability to work with algorithms, data structures, and basic software design patterns.

Pay range for this opportunity is $23/hr.
Minimum pay rates offered will comply with county/city minimums, if higher than range listed. Pay rates are based on a number of factors, including but not limited to local labor market costs, years of relevant experience, education, professional certifications, foreign language fluency, etc.
