Overview
Ground-up construction in the Healthcare Market Sector of California, under HCAI regulatory oversight. Responsibilities

Qualifications
Education and Experience
Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management or related discipline is preferred
12 or more years of industry experience is required
5 or more years of experience managing construction projects within California healthcare facilities under HCAI oversight is required
Experience successfully executing ground-up hospital projects in California is required
Experience with existing building facilities management, major electrical, and HVAC systems is required
Knowledge and Skills
Strong technical, organizational, and writing skills with strong comprehension of HCAI project requirements and processes are required

Able to analyze risk for Infection Control Measures and make quick decisions with limited information and be relationship and being solution oriented is strong preferred

This position is site based at the client facility, the project site is connected to a working hospital location in San Diego, CA.

We're actively seeking a talented Application Development Manager, Group Benefits to join our Workforce Benefits Division in Newport Beach, CA or Omaha, NE. Relocation Assistance may be provided.
Reporting to the AVP, Product Group Technology Leader, the Application Development Manager, Group Benefits, will be instrumental in building and optimizing the back-end of our administration system, a core insurance platform providing quoting, underwriting, billing, and claims for dental, vision, disability, and life products. Leveraging over eight years of experience in Java development, the Application Development Manager will ensure smooth performance, high security, and effective integration of back-end systems to meet the needs of internal teams and external users. This role will collaborate with front-end developers, UX/UI designers, and business stakeholders, and play a critical role in creating a high-quality, scalable, and secure environment. This person will lead a team of several developers and contractors.
How you'll help move us forward:
Leadership and Architecture: Collaborate with product management, business, and technology to set the architecture and strategy for technology products including back-end applications, user interfaces, data and reporting, and workflows.
Back-End Development: Lead the design, development, and optimization of Java-based back-end services within the insurance platform, supporting our configuration-focused environment.
System Integration: Collaborate with front-end developers, UX/UI designers, and business stakeholders to ensure seamless integration across all systems.
Technical Leadership: Set and instill best practices for secure, scalable applications including requirement development process, architecture and coding principles, governance, quality assurance, and release standards, and security frameworks.
Management: Provide mentorship to developers and set goals for internal employees and perform reviews. Lead hiring and identification of appropriate full-time and contractor resources and manage budgets.
Microservices & API Development: Design and implement microservices and RESTful APIs to support secure, efficient integrations.
Performance Optimization: Monitor and address performance bottlenecks, ensuring optimal system response times and scalability.
Problem Solving: Build out designs and solutions for complex business needs. Lead troubleshooting efforts and drive continuous improvements in back-end development processes.
The experience you bring:
Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Technology Engineering, or a related field.
Experience: 8+ years in Java-focused back-end development, with strong knowledge of API and RESTful services.
Industry Background: 8+ years experience building technology solutions in Group Benefits insurance or financial services industry required.
Version Control: Proficient in Git for version control.
Tools Knowledge: Experience with business rule and workflow tools like Kraken, OpenL, and Flowable is preferred.
3+ years Supervisory experience Required
Travel of up to 10% will be required to locations for Program Increment Planning, leadership and technology team meetings.

Base Pay Range:
The base pay range noted represents the company's good faith minimum and maximum range for this role at the time of posting. The actual compensation offered to a candidate will be dependent upon several factors, including but not limited to experience, qualifications and geographic location. Also, most employees are eligible for additional incentive pay.

What You Would Get To Do
In this capacity, the ideal candidate would represent the FIRST brand embedded within a Solutions account for a financial services company. FIRST Solutions is the proprietary strategic meetings management model offered by FIRST, which embeds specialist talent into organizations to provide Content, Creative, Digital Technology, Management & Delivery, and Data & Insights. The Associate Project Manager will consistently deliver exceptional service to our high-touch clients through excellent project management and creative solutions. This position will support virtual, in-person and hybrid domestic events which include but are not limited to; internal programs, client-facing events including conferences, hospitality, thought leadership, sporting, and cultural programs.
Your Contributions
Full life-cycle planning and execution of multiple key events in a digital/virtual capacity, and in-person
Event planning and project management including creation of timelines, invitation process, thorough and regular communications to attendees, suppliers and stakeholders
Financial management, including: budget development and management, expense management and invoice processing, timely post-meeting reconciliation and final financial reporting
Sourcing, negotiating and managing site selections, contract management for venues and suppliers
Coordinate registration, transportation, hotel accommodations, entertainment, gift selection, audio/visual needs, webcasts, staging and speaker selection for all programs; strong focus on vendor management
Work with the team to ensure adherence to the client's standards of operation and policies; ensure compliance and risk guidelines are followed
Global Travel (when applicable, no more than 15% annually) for site inspections and on-site management of live events to ensure full coordination of logistics and on-site teams for in-person events
Post event wrap up including final attendees, budget reconciliation, observations, as well as client debriefs for year over year improvements
Co-plan with colleagues and the client on larger scale programs; strong team player
Share knowledge of best practices, new suppliers, services and venues
Deepen relations with existing clients and maximize on all opportunities to generate new business

2 - 4 years' event management experience, preferably in a corporate financial environment
Bachelor's Degree preferred
