What You Bring to the Table (Must Have)
* High school diploma or G.E.D.
* Demonstrated sensitivity to behavioral health issues and multi-cultural populations (e.g., exposure through family relationships, volunteering, or other previous experience(s) or coursework)
* Must be at least 18 years of age
* Must be CPR, Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI), and First Aid certified on date of employment or within 60 days of employment and maintain current certification throughout employment
* All opportunities at Telecare are contingent upon successful completion and receipt of acceptable results of the applicable post-offer physical examination, 2-step PPD test for tuberculosis, acceptable criminal background clearances, excluded party sanctions, and degree or license verification. If the position requires driving, valid driver license, a motor vehicle clearance, and proof of auto insurance is required at time of employment and must be maintained throughout employment. In partnership with San Diego Behavioral Health Services and the San Diego Housing Commission, Telecare offers onsite supportive and case management services for persons residing at Valley Vista Permanent Supportive Housing (PSH). All referrals to Valley Vista PSH are prioritized and matched by the region's Coordinated Entry System (CES). Service participation is voluntary and not required to reside at Valley Vista PSH. Telecare works with tenants to engage them in services according to their behavioral health and case management needs. Services are provided throughout the community based on preference: onsite in community space, in your unit, or in the community, if appropriate. These services focus on housing stability and retention, including but not limited to: 1) Outreach and engagement services addressing housing stabilization and case management needs, 2) Behavioral health assessment, screening, care coordination, and referrals for residents at high risk and in need of more intensive behavioral health services to maintain housing, 3) Addressing ongoing behavioral health care coordination needs, and 4) Offering site-wide community integration opportunities (BBQs, celebrations, tenant education, and other groups).

POSITION OBJECTIVE
The MentalHealth Worker is the treatment team member who is responsible for providing care to meet the physical and psychological needs of clients through providing direct and indirect services.
QUALIFICATIONS
One (1) year of experience with nursing an/or psychiatric clients in a clinic, hospital or a long-term care facility is preferred.
Knowledge of basic psychiatric and nursing skills, including nursing interventions is essential.
Certification as a CNA or its equivalent is acceptable documentation of nursing skills knowledge.

La Casa MentalHealth Rehabilitation Center (MHRC) is a 190-bed program providing assistance to adults 18 and older. MISSION STATEMENT Telecare will deliver and manage excellent services and systems of care for persons with serious mental illness. OBJECTIVE
With the support of the Rehabilitation Therapist Supervisor, the Rehabilitation Counselor provides rehabilitation therapy services to clients, both on an individual and group basis, and serves as a member of the multi-disciplinary Recovery Team.
Shifts Available:
Full-Time | AM | Shifts vary as needed | Days: Tuesday - Saturday
Expected starting wage is $22.11. Telecare applies geographic differentials to its pay ranges. The pay range assigned to this role will be based on the geographic location from which the role is performed. Starting pay is commensurate with relevant experience above the minimum requirements.

QUALIFICATIONS
A B.A. degree in psychology or related field is required. Six (6) months of related practical experience in group facilitation, education and/or event planning with people diagnosed with serious mental illness is preferred. The ability to read, write & speak English is crucial. Experience may be substituted for education. A valid California Drivers License and a driving record that ensures insurability to drive company vehicles are also required. An understanding of psychiatric illness and Recovery principles is essential. Applicant must receive clearance from the Department of Justice. Experience may be substituted for education.

* Plans and conducts large and small activity groups under the indirect supervision of the Director of Rehabilitation. This includes:
* Maintaining awareness of Clients' physical and psychiatric limitations and monitoring the safety of Clients at all times.
* Enlisting the cooperation of nursing staff in supporting the structured activity program.
* Facilitating Clients' attendance at scheduled activities and focusing efforts on maximizing Client involvement.
* Accurately documenting each Client's attendance and response to activity and rehabilitation groups in the medical record.
* Plans and conducts outings for Clients which are educational and entertaining. When assigned, drives the facility van on outings.
* Develops a theme and schedules a series of special events for assigned months.
TEAM MEMBER PARTICIPATION
* Participates as a team member and provides input via reporting observations, concerns and asking appropriate questions.
* Develops, Implements and Reviews Client Recovery plans
* Actively participates in multidisciplinary team meetings and Recovery Team Conferences.
