DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Department Laboratory Course Support Assist faculty in developing new instructional activities and demonstrations by acting as a resource for materials and equipment utilization. Responsible for cleanliness and routine maintenance of all laboratory and storage facilities including participating in year-end lab cleanup. Operate scientific equipment and provide faculty and students with assistance in interpreting results. Organize and schedule the preparation and provision of chemical materials, supplies, and technical and non-technical equipment for laboratory courses. Prepare solutions, chemicals, and materials for instructional laboratory activities. Provide technical assistance and support to students and faculty on individual experiments/projects. Using general knowledge of chemistry and biochemistry, recognize commonalities between courses and assist with developing systems for optimizing facilities and equipment use. When directed, assist in preparing materials needed for faculty research. Assign work and provide routine guidance to student assistants on basic laboratory support tasks and demonstrate proper procedures as needed. Department Laboratory Maintenance & Supplies Assist in the procurement process for chemicals/materials, supplies, and equipment required for laboratory and/or courses by identifying needs, obtaining quotes, and submitting requests for approval. Assist with routine maintenance on laboratory, stockroom, and scientific equipment. Assist in monitoring adherence to university laboratory safety practices and report concerns or irregularities to appropriate personnel. Assist with stockroom requests from various parties. Maintain clean and safe working practices and spaces in all laboratories and stockroom. Assist in maintaining inventory records of laboratory/instructional equipment, supplies, and chemicals/materials. Assist with annual audit of lab equipment, accessory items, chemicals and materials. Using general knowledge of equipment and their uses, describe needs or problems to appropriate personnel when repairs are required. Ensure Safe Environment Assist in the collection, handling, and disposal of hazardous materials by following established procedures and safety protocols. Follow established procedures for the proper storage of all potentially hazardous materials in laboratories and the stockroom. Serve as a member of the campus emergency response team and the NSME Safety Committee. Monitor and follow safety regulations, including compliance with specific regulations and documentation such as hazardous and radioactive material use standards. Report safety or compliance concerns to the Chemical Hygiene Officer or designated safety personnel. Maintain required documentation for department. Collaborate with the Chemical Hygiene Officer and NSME Lab Safety Coordinator to coordinate hazardous-waste container and labeling needs, maintain lab inventory and storage compliance, support equipment installations, and report facility repairs that involve safety considerations. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE - Equivalent to two years of (recent - within three years) experience providing instructional support services for a unit or discipline, acting as a student assistant, or in producing materials or supplies related to chemistry or a related discipline. OR Equivalent two years of college with 16 semester units in chemistry or related discipline in courses involving extensive use of materials, supplies, or equipment may be substituted for one year of the required experience. OR Equivalent to four years of college with 16 semester units in chemistry or related discipline in courses involving extensive use of materials, supplies, or equipment may be substituted for the required experience. LICENSES - Possession of a valid driver's license or the ability to obtain by date of hire. Ability to adjust and perform simple maintenance of technical and scientific equipment. Ability to prepare solutions with reagent-grade chemicals. Knowledge of common safety procedures for handling and storage of chemicals used in laboratory preparations along with handling both bio-hazardous and hazardous chemical waste. Demonstrated customer service experience requiring a very high level of diplomacy and professionalism. Ability to use tact and diplomacy to effectively handle a broad range of high level and sensitive interpersonal situations with diverse personalities, and to respond appropriately to conflicts and problems. Essential Functions: Under the general direction of the Senior Director, IT Infrastructure & Operations, the Network Analyst is responsible for the design, implementation, operation, and maintenance of the University's enterprise-wide wired and wireless networks, firewalls, and telecommunication systems. The incumbent ensures the stability, availability, and security of critical network services that support academic, administrative, and research operations. Duties include administering high availability firewalls and VPNs, monitoring performance baselines, analyzing security logs, and coordinating incident response with Information Security. The role provides Level 2 escalation support, develops documentation and runbooks to ensure audit readiness, and participates in lifecycle planning for network equipment and services. The Network Analyst also contributes to the design of secure and scalable architectures, evaluates emerging technologies, and partners with campus stakeholders and CSU systemwide groups to ensure alignment with industry standards and institutional objectives. Required Qualifications & Experience: Equivalent to a bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university in Business, Information Technology, Computer Information Systems, or other related field and two years of experience.
